Surprises under the carpet

Hey everyone. I started taking out my interior last night in preparation for 3 coats of Quiet Car sound deadening coating. I found a few interesting things, and wanted to know if I should bother to put them back in after I'm done.

First up... A clarion unit of some sort. Is this part of the stock security or sound system? And if I leave it out would it have any effect on the car?

Next up... rear component speakers MB Quartz. I'm not a speaker guru, but do you think these are good? I've never been able to hear them, and now i know why. I have a group of wires running along the tranny tunnel, and from the back of the car. Whats missing is the amp that was cut out of that group of wires haha. I'm guessing these are pretty old, do you think a new good quality 5x7 would do the job just as well?

There was a set of these on each side.

Score!

The Clarion amp is the stock center channel speaker amp, the speaker that's in the top middle of your dashboard. It's pretty useless without the stock stereo and without a decent speaker in the tiny speaker hole on the dash.

That's a score on those MB Quarts - those are good speakers that cost some moneys! Hell, I'd get them hooked up and see how they do, they're most likely not terrible.

BTW, only things I've found under the carpet is change and bad or dropped fuses. If you take the dead pedal out there's always a couple of fuses back in there.

Seems like the clarion piece is part of the stock sound system, its a small inline amp.
The speakers you can go either way. They're decent at beast, but if you're going to be putting in any kind of system what so ever, you should probably replace it.

the metal piece or the cutouts for components?

If you just need the cutouts, i don't mind tracing them so you can have someone cut you some to match.

well, if you find a company that can make copies, i'll think about sending them mine to use to create a mold or template with as long as i get them back.

Also, I will be doing a video documentary of the Quiet Car project. Unfortunately, by the time I actually got my hands on a decibel meter, it was too cold and my car wouldn't start. But the project must go on, I'll just video tape my reaction when i start it back up the first time, you'll be able to tell haha.
