Stumped Shifter Issues
I have been having a problem getting the car into 1st and reverse when not moving. all other gears work fine and 1st works when moving.
the shifter will either be stiff and very notchy when going into gear, or will go but will do so with a loud grind and clunk and will jerk the car, or won't go at all. doesn't do it all the time but has been doing it a lot more lately. sometimes it goes in perfect and then very next time will be notchy or not work. i have never missed a shift or ground a gear since i have owned the car and that has been since 2004 and about 65k miles
I have replaced the master cylinder and all the lines from the resiviore to the slave cylinder. the slave was rebuild 2 yrs ago. i have a b&m short shifter and a centerforce dual friction clutch.
i have tried bleeding and rebleeding the clutch and have tried adjusting the pedal itself. bleeding didn't do anything and i thought adjusting the pedal had solved it but it started occuring again about a day later. i have even changed the gear oil and put in fresh redline mt-90. and changed the pilot bearing as well
the only thing i can think of is that maybe the nylon bushing at the bottom of the shifter is worn out and not allowing propper alingment when pulling it into gear.
has anyone had a similar problem or heard of this??
