Strut tower assembly

I am installing Tokico struts and have a question - in the front,
where the strut protrudes through the strut tower, viewed from the
engine compartment, a rubber donut/plate goes on the shaft and is
secured to it with a nut. My question is, should that rubber be
snug down against the strut tower, or is a gap expected?

I have a 1/8" gap and cannot remember if it was that way previously.

Doesn't seem right, though I'm fairly certain I have things
reassembled in the right order...

You mean this black rubber thing here?

I can't say for sure, but I'm fairly certain mine is flush against the metal.

ok, I took the time to look through all the engine bay pics on here and found plenty with elevated rubber and plenty with no rubber at all. Not sure what that piece is for, but at least I can rest easier knowing that I likely have my struts put together in the right order.

Zullo,

I found a pick from out last track event of RTS3GEN's car who is running Tokico's (with the GC Coilovers). He does have them on there; sorry I was mistaken.
