Strut tower assembly
Strut tower assembly
I am installing Tokico struts and have a question - in the front,
where the strut protrudes through the strut tower, viewed from the
engine compartment, a rubber donut/plate goes on the shaft and is
secured to it with a nut. My question is, should that rubber be
snug down against the strut tower, or is a gap expected?
I have a 1/8" gap and cannot remember if it was that way previously.
Doesn't seem right, though I'm fairly certain I have things
reassembled in the right order...

umm my car doesnt have that, is that a problem?? all the others ive seen seem to look as ifits flush against the body, yet tighten in such a way that the edge doesnt look like its flush.
i dunno if that make sense...

ok, I took the time to look through all the engine bay pics on here and found plenty with elevated rubber and plenty with no rubber at all. Not sure what that piece is for, but at least I can rest easier knowing that I likely have my struts put together in the right order.
