I was going to replace the charcoal canister, which is on the drivers's side, behind the driver - and can apparently vent to atmosphere at idle-stop if it's saturated.

But the part wasn't available, and it also turns out that my fuel filter was really dirty. After changing the fuel filter i have not noticed the smell at all.

Fyi the canister is like a $350 part.

So if you haven't changed the fuel filter in awhile, maybe give that a try - good for the car anyway.

I had a gas smell for a little bit...it was off and on. finally one day after working on the car for 2-3 months of various other projects....I started the car and it dumped fuel out. I followed the leak and found that my fuel line to the FPD...the hose clamp wasn't tight enough. So I threw on a wormclamp and it fixed the problem. no smell or anything after that. Might just be leaking through the end of a hose or something somewhere.

Same problem this week. Luckily found the leak before an engine fire. Car had been stored for several years. There was a pinhole leak in the short hose connecting the primary and secondary fuel rails. The fpd also may have had a slight leak. I replaced this fuel hose, along with the fpd, fpr, and other fuel hoses while I had it torn down.

Did the solenoid valve tests (stock sequential) replaced a couple marginal solenoids, found my oil injectors were bad/replaced, replaced the oil injector lines (one broke during disassembly, had RC clean/flow the injectors (one was leaking), and replaced all the hoses with silicone ones while in there.

Expensive, but it had to be done, more expensive had I not done the repairs

nice 3 year thread revival.

But also something people with aging factory fuel lines may want to look into.
