If it does turn out to be the input shaft bearing don't wait too long to have it fixed . It can gall the shaft requiring it's replacement too. A new one would set you back about $500.

so.. a little update .
before sending my fd off to neptune on the 14th
today I decided to see the condition of my shifter rubber boots.. and of course . it's ripped in alot of places resulting in hot air flowing in and warming my arms..
(where can I order the new assembly for the best price ?)

and also I noticed my entire shifter is in a weird position



I don't think I've ever seen it before to make a reference. could this be what's causing my weird sounds ? the positioning looks off
