Strange noise from under the glove box

I have a strange noise coming from the area under the glove box. It starts when I turn the key on and never goes away. It sounds like a cd player that is ejecting over and over. I'm pretty sure it's coming from the attached pic, but wanted to make sure what it was before I unplugged it.

Wow you actually found the muffler bearings. Looks like they are going bad.

The picture is not clear but I think that is the fan resistor. It is pretty to unscrew it to check it - but it has no moving parts so I doubt it is it the culprit. The AC thermoswitch or expansion valve may be making the noise.

the expansion valve wouldn't make any noise unless the a/c was on

by the description of the sound (very clear BTW) it sounds like it might be a relay

What relays are in the glove box area?

Fixed! Started pulling fuses and the noise stopped after I pulled out the rear wiper fuse. I don't care since I don't have a rear wiper anyway. Hope this helps someone in the future.

Well crap, so it turns out that the rear wiper fuse also powers the ABS computer. Could that be what this noise is? Something with the ABS in that location? Does the computer have moving parts? I verified that it is not coming from the ABS pump under the hood (although it does look like it's leaking fluid).

Anyone?

yes the abs pump motor has moving parts, contained in the BPMV...also the EBCM contains solenoids that could make noise, though more than likely it would be the pump motor... newer GM's have problems with this (99+ fulsize/suv)
