Strange boost, rich idle, squealing noise - I'm stumped.

I've noticed that my boost pattern has gone from 10-8-10 to 10-8-10-8. Sometimes the secondary turbo doesn't feel like it packs a punch, other times it does. I've also noticed that I'm not getting 10psi in 1st gear (only getting up to about 5) but the rest of the gears will do 10-8-10-8.

I just replaced the FPR due to starting issues and that brought the fuel pressure back into spec. However, 2 of the 6 or so times I've started it hot it has stumbled at about 500rpm and then idled normally. I did have to use ATF and WD-40 as well as replace the plugs to start it the other day due to flooding.

When idling it pulls about 14 of vaccum, and 20 while cruising. I've noticed that my a/f gauge is green during idle, it usually flashes all over the place.

I can also periodically hear a squealing noise coming from the engine bay when the rpms are between 2000-3000 - it sounds like an air leak so I was thinking either the BOV or the CRV?

Does anyone think that a leak, either the BOV or CRV or somewhere else could lead to all of these symptoms or do I have multiple problems? I've had the UIM and secondary fuel rail off two times this week and I'm getting frustrated.

Thanks,
-Charlie

The squaling noise could be your ACV, check it. There is a disc on it that slips down and vibrates and makes the squealing noise. Kind of fits considering the ACV is active between idle and 3.5k revs!

Also, my car does the 10-8-10-8 thing, ive been told this is totally normal for a stock FD because of restrictions of the cat etc.

On a mostly stock car, it is fairly normal to have the boost settle down a few psi on the secondary turbo. After I installed my midpipe I get a full 11 psi all the way to redline.

I also don't get full boost in 1st gear, but I think it is pretty normal. It goes by lightning fast anyway.

Thanks for the replies guys. The squealing noise has stopped, but the boost issue as well as rich idle remains.

Last night I noticed the vaccum was 20 at 1,500 idle. Then once the idle settled to about 800-900 it was 15. Then, later, it was only 10 at 900 idle - then back to 15. What would cause the vaccum to change like this at the same rpm?

I didn't mention it, but I have a downpipe and cat back exhaust. I normally boost a solid 10-11psi through redline on the secondary.

Last night it would hold 10 sometimes but not others.
