stock twins slow to spool

Yea. All I've got is a 3inch downpipe and an amemiya filter/intake thing. i have a turbosmart mbc on the wastegate and a hallman pro rx or w/e on the pre-control

when i had it stock with the pills and solenoids it would hit 10 psi by 2500, but it would spike like crazy and have a bad transition dip. hence i went to the mbc's and using them i was able to set up a perfect 10-9-10 pattern.

I don't know if I should trust my guage though. Its vacuum readings are about 11 inHg at 850 rpm, where as my mityvac shows 16.

It still feels like a sluggish spool though. I'v been messing with my idle settings trying to finally perfect it, and BEFORE today when I got it just right, it would spool fully at around 2900 or so. he tps is now at 75v closed and for some reason it's showing like 5.05 volts fully open (I thought it shouldn't be above 4.99 but to do that I would have had to drop the closed setting to about 50, and the minimum is 75)

the other range..w/e one it is that is the bottom wire on the tps, is now showing about .25, where the range is supposed to be .1-.7 i believe. i was hoping this would slightly lean out the mixture, so that the tps would show a slightly less open throttle and there-fore delivery slightly less fuel (sorry but gas prices got me trying anything) could doing this slow the spool up? i understand that a richer mixture will burn more and create mroe exhaust, hence more exhaust pressure, hence a quicker spool. but I just wanted to go ahead and get some opinions first.

Thanks

ok so im going to reply to myself

i readjusted the tps settings to 1.0 - 4.98 wide band and .44-4.35 i think narrow band. the car runs fine still. no change is spool speed.

also i went down a backroad by my house and decided to make a run. so i was in 3rd gear about 6500-7000 rpm when it just said **** OFF. felt like maybe the double throttle closed on me or something. one time i forgot to reconnect that vac hose and on the freeway i had the same feeling once i got above transition. almost like a fule cut..but softer..like an air cut. maybe the intake hoses are collapsing at that high rpm? only happened to me in 3rd gear not 1st or 2nd. as for the slow spool speed, maybe i just need to adjust my mbc to be set at maybe 1 psi or 2 over what i want to let it spool up quicker, i dunno. either that or the intake hoses are completely just caving in even at off idle WOT. NO CLUE

If you suspect the intake hoses, I guess you can just remove them for a run and see if that makes the difference.

now im 100% not sure. the intake hoses arent the problem.

my only though is that the double throttle plate are for some reason stayign closed.. but it's not always post-transitionb oost that's effected it anytime i floor it in 1st or 2nd gear, so in a gear that revs up quickly. it slightly dose it in 3rd, and i dont believe it doest it in 4th or 5th.

It is a buckins, at between 2800 and 4000 rom in 1st or 2nd gear. also i am still having the issue of late spool. it almost seems that my 12psi cutof finally started working. bwfore i was runnign 15 psi without any ecu fuel cut but todaty i ran it and as soon as it hit 12 it just cutt off all my fuel like WOW. so i thought it was that

but then i tried just running it without building boost, it does it at about 3500-4000 rpm,.but only really in the 1st 2 gears. i will assume bad ground, or in need of new plugs/wires that i have on the way from summitracing

Try adjusting your idle screw all the way closed. If your car doesn't die, you've probably got a vacuum leak (like mine). Another easy way to test this is to go WOT, blip off the gas (to "recharge" the vacuum tanks) and then go back to WOT. If it pulls a lot harder the second time, it's a vacuum leak.

god luck.

nah it's not that. the idle is solid at 850. and it returns back to idle great. and it happens during spool up from iff idle not after transition when the vacuum is needed to speed up the turbo control actuator's opening. vacuum tank is connected to where it should be and all check valves are replaced.

that and i didnt think closing the idle air screw would completely restrict all the airflow. with that screw completely closed it idles at about 500 rpm. im sure that teh vacuum created is enough to jitter the butterflies to allow for enough air to breath.
