Stock Twins?

I was just wondering how hard it was to take out the stock twins? What do I have to do to take them off?

And it's heavy enough that when I do it alone I wish I had a helper. One to hold the weight, one to guide out all the piping and stuff.

IMO, half the battle is the exhaust studs. If the turbos were pulled withing the last few thousand miles, and put together with a little anti-seize, the job isn't bad at all. Just takes some time.

I would say its at least a 3 hour job if you have never done it before. Get some anti seize spray from the local auto store, spray the exaust bolts down and let sit for a bit it makes the job alot easier. Ill load some pics of the bolts you need to take off of the turbos to get them to come off.

When I worked on my twins it took around 6 hrs. 1/2 the battle is getting the studs off as dgeesaman said. My route, in order, was: Intake, Airpump, Y-pipe, ABS heat-guard, Another heat-guard by the downpipe, Downpipe, then finally the turbos.

Unbolt the down pipe from the cat and the turbos. Make sure you have a deep socket 14 mm and some PB Blaster. You should replace the gasket too. Its pricey though.

True just making a point about the time frame.

Hell I'm going to pull the engine again when it hits 100k to do a full inspection and replace some stuff. It's alot easier this way.
