stock transmition hp support?
I did a search and couldn't find how much horse power can the stock transmition on an FD take? and once it's past the limit what other options are out there? Thanks a bunch

There are lots of people running it with over 400RWHP. My guess is that it is good well above that.
Thanks, Mazda, for giving us a strong transmission. That seems to be a weak point on some of the other oft-modified imports.

When you start getting upward of 500rwhp you need to be worried. Not to say it wont go out before then because with enough wear and abuse anything will break, just that for a good health trans you could drive it with no probs and 500rwhp.
Actually if you dont launch the car at the track you can go much higher than that. I'd imagine with for a street or road race car 600rwhp would be ok.
Its the hard launches and speed shifts that kill it

I run a stock transmission on my bridgey with no problems, and my partner Steve Kan also runs a stock tranny on his drag car. They're good to go. (Assuming you're not trying to break it)

Transmission problems are not only related to hp, but grip as well! So if you are not getting heaps of grip via your tires your tranny will last for ages, go to sticky tires and hp and start to be concerned with your diff and tranny lasting. You can break one with 200 hp or less if you drive like an idiot.
