stock + race gas + 12psi?

stock computer, stock motor, stock turbos......is it safe to run race gas (110 octane) at 12lbs of boost at the track? stupid quetsion, but just curious.

Race gas isn't going to increase your A/F ratio and that's what you should be concerned with the most.

Race gas will allow you to run leaner than normal 91 octane would allow...but you are still getting close to fuel cut, which I see as being the problem. I think it has been well covered that the stock computer is rich enough to run much more power than stock and still be safe as long as boost is kept similar.

I would run 14psi with intake and full exhaust ....

does everyone notice that he has a stock ecu?! You can't run 12 because thats the fuel cutoff point anyways. You can only boost the stock 10 psi with the stock ecu. If you wish to pop the motor then be my guest and boost 16 psi for all I care.

What is the cheapest way to get rid of fuel cut? Is there a FCD for FD like there is for FC?

Thanks

Yes, there are FCD, however fuel cut is there to save your engine. If you get rid of fuel cut, how are you going to maintain your A/F in the upper boost levels?

Ding! Upgraded ECU. Handles both problems for you at once.

i have upgraded ecu, I have that purple box PFS ecu. However, on saturday on a cold night i got fuel cut as the boost spiked at 14 psi after transition in 3rd gear.

And that probably saved your engine as I doubt your ECU is tuned to handle anything above 14 PSI. ECU's that have fuel cut have them there for a reason, as they cannot or don't have maps for anything over the fuel cut level. Therefore bypassing fuel cut and still allowing it to handle fuel delivery is almost asking for a rebuild.

I recently sold my PFS purple box and replaced with an Apexi for just that reason. The instructions that come with the PFS specifically warn about boost over 15 psi. Even though the setting #3 pre-set fuel maps that come with the purple box are supposed to allow running 15 psi, I could never do so routinely. The stock ecu would still detect over-boost and initiate fuel cut if the over-boost lasted more than 3 seconds.

Not a stupid question. I wouldn't recommend it. 12 psi puts you at risk. I would say 10 1/2 to 11 psi maximum on the stock ECU.

How are you regulating boost? Mods?

He does not have the stock ecu. He has the PFS PMC, in addition to the stock ecu, so he can tune fuel maps and timing and, to a certain degree, control boost. Pre-set menu on the three pre-sets from PFS provide fuel enrichening to support up to 15 psi.

Unrelated to the boost issue: Running leaded gas will kill your o2 sensor and kill your stock cat.

i have downpipe, hollow main cat, and catback. without the pills taken out of my wastegate lines1 i was seeing 9 lbs in poormans non-seq. i put in a manual boost controller and opened it up all the way, so that it is just a *slight* restriction so now im usually get 9 1/2 - 10lbs...depending on the weather.

so the leaded gas wouldnt be a problem for my cat, but i suppose it would still kill my o2. thanks for the advice, i knew 10psi was the limit, i just didnt know if that applied to race gas also, since not many people as slow as me talk about such a thing. haha.

Could of sworn I heard alot of people saying they would throw a gal of race gas in everytime they filled up to help their 7 run better. Maybe I was just up way too late one night...

And those people are running midpipes and aren't using o2 sensor feedback either.....
