Stock ports idling like it's ported

What can cause a stock port 13b to idle like its heavily ported?
Just finished my car, using an unknown basemap the car started and idled at nearly 3k.
My tuner looked at that map and did some quick revisions regarding smoothing it out and lowering the idle. (via email- didn't actually have the car in front of him)
I loaded his map, idle is down to 1.5k area but it is VERY brappy. Trying to upload the videos to YouTube now.

It is running open turbo right now so it's stupid loud.
Stock port 13Brew, single turbo, AEM Series 1.

First start, around 3k idle.

Idle after lowering it to 1.5k

Check (possibly adjust) tps as well regarding the high idle. There is a thread here somewhere. Pretty easy process. Just need a multimeter.

Lol. Yes. That much I figured. I'd think idle be able to get it to idle a little better regardless.

Come to think of it. I didn't adjust it after I removed it. Didn't think it would affect it. I'll look into it. Thanks for the reminder.

I had a large vacuum leak when a nipple cracked, and it reminded me of a peripheral. I replaced the nipple and everything got smooth.

If you adjust the TPS on the AEM V1, you'll have to reset the throttle range via AEM Pro or it will not idle properly at all.

Otherwise, it sounds like tuning should resolve the other issues.

i have a P port, and an REW powered FC, and when the Map sensor isn't plugged in, or there is a big vacuum leak, the P port idles better.....

as an aside the P port has better throttle response, more low rpm tq, and with the neighbor friendly silencer, its quieter

It's been almost 20 years since that P port, and about the same since the bridgy, so my memory is a little vague. I know it did not have a neighbor friendly exhaust. 2 Power Pulse presilencers and 2 hooker mufflers.

On another note, I keep wanting to semi p port the FD. Nothing sounds like a P port.

Find your intake leak by spraying some carb cleaner around the intake.

FWIW, I added a modestly lightened flywheel and did nothing else. It raised the idle ~ 150 rpm and made it lope just a bit occasionally.

My car sounded like a exactly like a full bridge with both the map sensor vac line and brake booster hose removed from the intake manifold. This equates to being pig rich with a large vacum leak.
