Stock intercooler ducting

I have been trying to find pics of the ducting below the black 'duct' in front of the intercooler/airbox, but haven't found anything. I noticed when I pulled mine off that mine only has a small amount of deteriorating foam around it and nothing else. When on the car, I can look down the gap with a flashlight and there is a half inch gap between the end of the cover lip and the hole in the plastic intercooler duct. Is this supposed to be this way, or is there supposed to be some kind of rubber 'coupler' like on the airbox side? My guess is this can't be good for getting as much cool air across this puny intercooler as possible. Thanks for you help!

bump....

does anyone know about this at all? I don't care to see a pic, I just wanted to know if there is some kind of ducting there besides the crappy deteriorating foam. Thanks in advance!

There is some gray foam on the sides but I bet it weathers easily. The 4 mounts is what holds the duct to the IC but the seal could be better. They sell self adhesive weather stripping for your house that can replace bad foam. walk around home depot or lowes ECT. there is a lot there that can be used for little jobs on your car.

If you want a pic. I have the duct in my basement.

You have four mounts? I only have two bolts in the front that hold mine down. What hardware am I missing? The cover/duct thing seemed awfully flimsy with only those two bolts supporting it. I can pull up on the back of the cover/duct and it has a bit of play that widens that gap even more. I like the idea of the weatherstripping - I'll probably go that route as long as I am not missing anything. Thanks for you help!

The 4 mounts are at the duct to intercooler conection - the upper duct to the airbox only has two screws.
and yes it is just a small gray foam seal around the duct connection.

Thanks for clearing that up.....I understand which four he was talking about now. I was referring to the top cover/duct thing held down by the two bolts. I guess I'll try weatherstripping or something similar.....I can't believe they used this crappy foam to seal this connection. Anyone get the feeling they built this car for short-term fun rather than long-term enjoyment? I guess this has something to do with the average life of a car over in Japan. Thanks for your help!
