Stock Intake piping vs aftermarket

Hello,
Was just curious to know weather it would make much of a difference to keep my existing stock intake piping "rubber" right now or invest in some aftermarket piping like the one in the link. I dont really want to spend to much money but would just like to know if these aluminum piping would add much of a difference to sound or cooling

Current set up / pipping in attached pic.//

Looking at the bomz intake piping from ebay..
If anyone has any suggestions as to what pipping will be less hassel but good bang for buck please let me know.

Will the K&N filters i have on there fit with something like the BOMZ intake piping kit?

I wish to keep my same filters and heat shield not really looking to put a whole new intake system in.. just change the stock piping for aluminum pipping

Has anyone bought these off EBAY?
http://cgi.ebay.ca/Bomz-93-94-95-97-...QQcmdZViewItem

and does anyone know if they will be compatible with the K&N filters that I have on my setup as of now?

Hey was just curious
Where does this guy put his CRV valve and BOV looks like there not vented into the intake... (check out attached pic looks like the BOV is vented downward into the botton of the engine?)
Im really new at modding my car so i didnt really do to much to my intake setup
But i was just wondering if anyone could give me some input.
Also do i need to put all the hoses that I have in the above link (stock looking setup) into my intake system or can i eliminate some of the hoses to make it look more similar to the bottom pics with the (fighter) intake set up.

Hmmm i see,
Does this require additional tuning to the ECU for this?

Would I be able to get away with this in my set up? I know where one BOV is located its way up front.... I see another type of BOV but it says CRV on it is this the second on or is this something else and needs to be hooked up to the intak as well?

I would really like to get some more information on the different ways to set up the intake system once you take out the stock air box.

there really aren't many ways to go about it. one tube per turbo. one filter per tube. Where the filters eventually go is really the only thing that changes.

intake installation is pretty much straight forward... take out the stock air box.. add pipes and filter..

So both BOV and CRV are able to just blow out into the atmosphere without any changes to the ecu ?

Yes. they vent into the airbox to keep them quieter.

And to whom said it affected idle. That is not because of how they are vented. It is something else.

Hello,
Ok I was just wondering then would it be ok to rip out all the plastic stuff infront of the stock intercooler and have it wide open? And what is that metal container thing for ? highlighted in my pic.

Look at pic to get a better understanding of what I mean.

if you have an aftermarket intake, its ok to removed that plastic part, just make sure you block off the hole in the intercooler shroud (it's under that plastic part)

Ok sounds good,
What would you suggest to use to block of the whole in the intercooler shroud?

it really doesnt matter. you could put tape over it if you feel like being lazy. some people cut little block off plates from sheet metal and rivet them on...that's what i did on my previous FD.

some people use black plastic and screw it over the hole. It depends on what you want it to look like and how well you want it to seal (because some people use double sided tape where it meet the IC duct.)

that large flat plastic part will help to direct fresh air to the intakes. you may want to leave it but its up to you. it is important that you retain the IC duct underneath it though.

it looks like you have a set of extensions on your stock intake tubes that allow you to route the BOV and CRV back to the intake tract. Keep those parts and use them in conjunction with the Bomz or Fighter's Garage pipes. I personally prefer to do that as the stock BOV and CRV make a fair amount of noise constantly when vented to atmosphere.

i took the whole shroud off and fiberglassed it then rivited a piece of polished aluminum over it to match the rest of the engine bay and give it a little "bling" but i dont have a life nor a job, and i build sub boxes so i have lots of excess fiberglass laying around, so this might not be the approach for you
