The stock cat back, to the N1 dual tip.....my ears are still ringing. :D

On my car I was running pretty much all the bolt-ons minus the cat back. You know, the down pipe, mid pipe, m2 intake, m2 medium style intercooler, efini y-pipe, power fc, and full non-seq. But I was using the stock cat back, while I decided on what exaust I was going to use. I did'nt have one bit of boost creep. Nice realy.

With the above mods, the car was'nt realy loud. But not quite by any means. I ran a best time of a 12.600@116.50mph this year. I'm shure with a couple more runs (I only got three for the day) I could of put it down into the 12.5-.4ish area. But I was fairly happy with the car.

This last week I picked up a N1 dual tip for my car realy cheap. Could'nt pass it up. So today I got my butt in gear, and put it on. Now, I was expecting a change in noise level...but this was just FREAKING AWESOME! My gosh, from the second I hit the key you could tell the car was just looking for a kill.

I crept out of my new housing delovopment, and headed for some open country driving. In other words anywhere where I could test the shift buzzer in a couple gears. Finally found some open road, and rolled into the throttle on the low setting of my profec B, wich use to be 10.5ish psi. Now, low setting was like 15ish psi atleast. I did'nt even try it on high mode.
But what I noticed was, even with the profec off, I'm getting creep to 12.5-13psi. Not good, but man, what a difference in noise and power going from the stock cat back to a n1 dual tip!

Just wondering if going from a non-seq setup to a single turbo setup makes it even louder?

Thanks guys, CJ

Yes, and the reason I got rid of the N1 Dual within the first two weeks of going single. This was with a hiflow cat too, on a weekend car. It was cool for the first 2 minutes, anyways.

oh, and this was with silencers in place too.

I had a dp, mp, N1 catback running non-seq and it was awful - sounded like an outboard motorboat mixed with a chainsaw. I switched to a hi-flo cat and sequential and it's quieter. You have 15 psi for a low setting on the stock twins????

The 15psi was only for one run. It was actually more like .99kg^2 or however the power-fc reads it. After that i backed the boost controler off. I'd never run 15psi on my twins on purpose. They need to last me until I go single.

I'm gonna pickup some silencers pretty soon, and hopefully those will check my boost creep a bit. BTW, what kinda tool do you need exactly for the silencers? Is'nt it like $11? I just don't wanna spend $11, on a allen key, or a screw driver, when I have a nice collection at home.

Thanks, CJ

I think the increase in "power" is minimal at best, and you will soon (I give it two weeks max) get tired of the drone.

I know your neighbors will.

I think you need a 10mm wrench.

I drive my car on average once a month or so. Usually when its not raining, wich is'nt very often in Oregon. I also try to be extremely respectfull of my neighbors, about when I leave and when I come home. No one has said anything, and I doubt they will. But I'am going to tone it down a bit. The silencers will help some, but I'm also gonna look into making or buying my own resonated mid pipe.

The numbers where done on a mustang dyno, wich is usually around %10 lower than a dyno jet. But I'll admit, I think the numbers are low. Gonna call to see about getting some dyno time today. CJ

i run the n1 dual...with a 3inch midpipe and a streetport...the thing is almost unbearable...lol....

i had a blast with it the first couple months....I think I am going to let it go and change over to the pettit which has a throatier sound to it.

the drone of the n1 dual is insane with a midpipe and port. goodbye radio. hello staring neighbors.

Id probably keep it but Im still bitter because it melted my rear bumper due to its poor fitment.

artguy did it melt the plastic part that the tips go through or did it melt the actual bumper? How did you lose your silencers? the blew out?

before the silencers my back bumper would turn totally black in that area after a few times of driving the car. It was hard to clean and nastly looking on my new paint job. Now I get 0 stuff on the bumper looks like new all the time. I was going to post pics any way and ask the forum members if maybe my silencers are too restrictive. I don't want to cause too much backpressure and hurt anything. Give me a couple days to get pictures of them and maybe some vids with sound differences. I didn't actually make them my welder friend did. Im not that talented but I try

I had a N1 D. It melted the black part under the bumper skin but not the skin. I didn't mind the noise of the N1 at WOT but it was needlessly loud while cruising. I have since switched to a greddy PE and am very happy. It's a straight through design with larger diameter tubing than the N1 and all stainless steel.

My 4500rpm boost spike dropped from about .96 to .93kg/cm2 at the same duty cycle setting but otherwise the boost pattern wasn't effected. The car is now much quieter when cruising, still respectfully loud when I get on it and has a much deeper big-block tone.

I thought about keeping the N1 and using the scilencers but IMO the large reduction in flow caused by the scilencers defeats the purpose of having the N1 to begin with.

I realy wanted to go with a m2 dual tip, but Jason said he was'nt expecting anymore. So I was waiting for the GB on the Racing Beat one, but I grew tired of waiting. This came along at a great price, so I picked it up.

Snook, I'm also very interested in silencers. Please post those pictures as soon as you can. CJ

I lost one silencer too. Threadlock those puppies.

Trim the black plastic 'apron' - you'll see where it contacts the exhaust tips. Makes for a mess (and nasty smell), but it can be scraped off and repolished. Not noticeable anyways with the exhaust in place.

Hey Artguy are you sure your melted bumper was caused by poor fitment? I've had my n1 dual for about 3-4 years, and no sign of melting yet. I thought the reason why the muffler tips melt the black was was because the clips that hold that black trim to the bumper become loose, causing the black trim to sag onto the muffler. Just curious.

Here you go guys

its hard to tell the difference in sound but its really much much quieter with the silencers
at least you can see what they look like and how they go in and out easily.

MUCH quieter at idle and normal driving but hardly any difference at WOT
Also made my boost drop from 12.5 to 11psi and you can really feel that the car is way faster with them out.

I ran mine w/ a single T04S for awhile w/ a midpipe... talk about scaring the Buhjesus out of people when you fly-by them at 100+. Rich (Goodfellafd3s ) told me I actually made people run off the road Can't wait to go back... I did kinda go deaf after while b/c of that and my g/f using my airhorn on people that were driving like idiots while they were talking on the cellphone...

Do all of you have a midpipe with the N1 dual? Because im still using the stock cat with the N1 dual and i swear its not that loud. It's not quiet either but it's definitely not unbearable.
