when disconnected from airbox end, should it have a slight suction? when i accelerate i can hear it sucking in more air. i always thought the bov's were one way and only open when venting excess pressure.
Are you sure you are not hearing the prespool valve ? The valves are open at vacuum, idleing because of bad design ,they close at less vacuum and open when you let off throttle at higher RPM . I have changed the springs in several so they are closed at idle and open at 17 inches vacuum, that way the boost comes in faster , improved low end .
i went to get my car inspected a couple weeks ago and they complained that my vented bov was pulling vacuum, and iirc it did, however now it seems to be constantly blowing air....this could be because of several other underlying problems i have though, ill post back tommorow when shes back together...
make sure you don't go to inspections with that vented though, after i recirced it and came back for the free reinspection, i was prompted with the question "So did you fix that airpump?" I told them it was it was a BOV "Wait, this car is turbo?" the guy honestly couldnt believe it but after i popped it off, reved it for him and he took a blast of warm rotary air to the face he seemed convinced
