Still smells strongly of fuel
Ok, I replaced the dead FPR which was dripping fuel and I replaced the FPD for good measure, and the intense fuel smell is still there, im going to go in and see whats up and maybe replace o-rings. Anything else I should check while im in there or any other ideas?

Turn on the fuel pump to pressure up the fuel system by jumpering F/P to GND on the diagnostic connector. Then just look for the leak.
I'm guessing injector O-rings.

yea, i did that after replacing the FPR and FPD. Thats why im so baffled that I didnt catch it. I let it run for 10 minutes. Im guessing that when the injectors are firing the o rings around them are letting gas get pushed out under acceleration. Hopefully throwing some new rubber parts at it and rechecking everything will fix it

Did you remove the rails from the engine? if you did, did you replace the insulators that seal the rail to the block/ LIM? If they are missing or bad you will get a fuel smell under boost

yea, the insulators are shot, those are being replaced. Anyone have pictures of their injectors and where o-rings go/are supposted to be. I think mine only have one set of O-rings on them.
It is such a pain in the butt to go down there again after replacing almost everything down there. Anyother things I should replace while im down there? So I dont have to crack open the rats nest again for a few years

Also you know those little brown plastic caps on the bottom of the primary injectors? They dont have a part number in the parts catalog and both of mine are cracked, where can i get new ones?

I find that removing the injectors is much easier when the rail is lifted, and I can push from the bottom and pull from the top at the same time. Shoot them with a little PB blaster to help un-stick the o-rings, and twist as you pull.
Those broken ends are pintle caps. Some injector service shops can get them, but Mazda doesn't sell them.
I would consider just sending the injectors out for a full cleaning job - you also get new o-rings and pintle caps for no extra cost. Mazda o-rings are so expensive it makes the injector cleaning very affordable . The insulators are called 'grommets', and they can be bought from Mazda for a few bucks. Ray at Malloy stocks them.

Now is time to have the injectors cleaned. you can send them to a place like RC eng. or Witchhunter, they will supply new o rings and pindel caps if nesessary
