Thumbs up Still can't believe the power of this new engine!

You know, with my old, stock engine, this summer heat just KILLED it, power-wise. But this new engine I have that Chris built....MAN! It just flat gets it...no doubt about it.
I get a hard-on thinking what a non-stock I/C would do for it....

I've considered several, but I want to keep the 'stock' look as much as possible. I definitely won't go front-mount, my best candidate is a medium stock-mount. M2, Pettit, PFS....there are a lot of good ones out there.

Know exactly what you mean about loosing power in the summer. I'm also still running stock IC. Great for the first few miles, especially in the morning. But you can really tell when heat-soak sets in.

Unless you're in clean air above say 75MPH will still be there no matter what IC you have.

Yes, but please let's not go there in this thread. There are other venues for addressing personal issues between one party and another.

nonsense

the SCC article proved that wrong....a good IC will help cool the charge as long as the car is moving at all

bajaman,

It really is a night and day difference between a motor with good compression and one with low. Add in some porting work and you have an entirely new car. Congrats and I hope we meet up sometime! Preferably up at Heartland Park seeing you flog it on the track!

BTW, I will be up there in October watching some of the SCCA Runoffs. If you have some time, make the trek up there as it should be a good time!

Any time an IC is doing work, a better IC is better for the turbos. Say you are running 10 PSI: if the stock IC requires the turbos to generate 15 PSI to get 10 PSI at the manifold, your turbos are working pretty hard. Now if an aftermarket IC only has the turbos working at 11 PSI to get 10 PSI at the manifold, your turbos are now working less to produce the same power which does a few things:

1. Well help your turbos last longer as they don't need to work as hard
2. Makes the car more reponsive as the power of the turbos is being used more efficiently.

Once the best mods I did when I was running 10 PSI was the Blitz SMIC.

I've found it somewhat hard to come by data regarding pressure drops accross aftermarket intercoolers. Does anyone have this information collected somewhere on their hard drive?
