Stiff Competition?

I decided to write this thread after getting back from Moroso today. It is in response to alot of the rx7 vs. ______ we've been seeing alot lately. You know, who would win if I raced a turbo Mustang, a s/c S2000, a stock Z06, a kid in a soapbox derby car?

After watching all kinds of cars run today, never have I been so sure that drag racing comes down to the driver. In an extreme example I saw a BPU+++ Supra running full slicks run a 14.25 and 13.73 1st and 2nd run respectively. Someone in a fairly well modded FD was running worse than stock numbers (very high 13's).

This is not meant to be a commentary on the potential of these, or any cars. It's only meant to show you that what the person is running under the hood is only a part (and a small part at that) of the equation. If in doubt, don't ask us, just line up and give a shot. Then let us know how it went.

Agreed...I've seen some FD's that were surprised how well "slower" cars faired against her(Me racing my buddies). One time I let one of my friends get the lead on me, thinking I would just punch it and pull right past him. I did, but at the top of 4th gear well over 120 mph...

...that's why I'm going single soon. I CAN launch. Just my sweetheart STILL doesn't have enough HP to make her scary.

No one else has any comments? Then I guess we won't have anymore "who would win?" posts.

yeah I think people often do base too many "will I win or lose?" decisions over what's under the hood. They forget that's there are other variables, the main one being a driver, and others being traction, etc..
