Sticky Sparkplugs
Sticky Sparkplugs
Here's something I've never heard of. When I had my car on the lift the other day, (oil change), I took a good look at the underside of the engine bay. That's when I noticed something odd about my front plugs. I reached up and touched them, and they were sticky. The rear plugs looked as good as the day I put them in, but both of the front plugs were sticky. Any help?
Most likely something that dripped down onto them. Also, some spark plug wires have dielectric grease on them to reduce arcing and assist in removal - might just be some of that that got pushed out of the boot.
Clean it up, see if it comes back, then worry

I noticed the same thing on mine. At first I thought it was oil that leaked onto the front plugs, but when I touched the plugs the stuff was thick and real sticky. The only place I could see that it was coming from was the knock sensor. I'm guessing this means I'll be needing a new sensor?
