Steering wheel question
I love the steering wheel off the newer Sevens... I just can't justify dropping 500 bucks on one though. I noticed the newer protege has one like it though. Does anyone know if that would fit or if there is a cheaper alternative?
Thanks

It does fit, you just have to drill a couple small holes in the back for the clock spring. Super easy. You will also have to switch the electrical connectors.
The link posted above is a good read and should answer all of your questions.
I switched the steering wheels on my protege and FD. The protege wheel isn't leather wrapped like the Nardi ones, but it is the same design and still looks a million times better than my aged FD wheel. Not to mention the protege wheel is quite a bit lighter and smaller in diameter.
One quick note: I haven't started the FD with the protege wheel installed (rebuilding the engine), but most people don't have any problems with the airbag light going off. I have been driving with the FD wheel in my protege and it does set off the airbag light because the resistance is slightly too low. It only happens on colder days, so the airbags are definitely pretty close in terms of resistance. I just need to add in a resistor in my protege to kill that warning light.
