Startup issues...
Hi Everyone:
I just finished doing some maintenance work on my car (93 auto) and now it's acting funny. When I started up the car, it started up fine, but then it started hunting and didn't stop hunting. While the car was running, I checked the exhaust and I noticed that there was a slight black smoke puffing out of there, more backfiring than normal and a more than usual gas smell (I keep my garage door half open). I'm a little confused on why this is happening. This is what work I did on it:
- Oil and Filter change
- Air Filter replacement
- Flush coolant
- Replaced upper radiator hose
- Replaced radiator drain plug
- Replace oil pressure sender
- Replace negative battery cable connector with a ring terminal connector
Let me note that when I was replacing the oil pressure sender, I had to remove the elbow to get more clearance and I thought that maybe thats where I have a leak, but it looks and feels fine. I Started it up and same thing.
I also re-did the negative connector I just did because I'm thinking that its probably not getting a clean connection to the cable. I also "closed" the IAS and opened it up a little. I didn't get a chance to test to see if these the changes fixed the issue (it was getting late), but I was wondering if I'm missing something to look at?
