starting to have problems with sec. turbo

recently i have noticed that once in a while the secondary turbo doesnt seem to come online as hard as it usually does. it has only happened a few times, almost always in second gear for some reason. it seems like the car is almost missing. most of the time it runs great, like its suppose to. i have kept up on all maintenance and replaced all vac lines. most of the time the secondary turbo sits me back in the seat hard, so i can really tell when its not working 100%.
one thing i havent replaced is the check valves in the vac lines, dont know if thats hurting anything, they seemed to be working correctly when i changed the vac lines. i know i really need a boost gauge to know for sure.
are these early symptoms of something that needs replaced?

Yes, but get a boost gauge for sure.

For $20 changing the check valves is good first step and also good preventive maintenance.

If you change all the vacuum lines, I suggest you prepare to test the components too. It's a great opportunity to straighten out everything in the turbo control system, but IMO it's not something to start when you want a quick fix.

You can get new OEM check valve from your Mazda dealer. Dale Clark sells viton check valves on here.

Buy Dales Viton ones. I installed them and there is a HUGE difference in the valve response. My stock ones barely allowed any air through. Also check that the charge control actuator operates properly, It my be sticking or have a leak.

hey, Depending on how often it happens and how your driving at the time, but as far as i know once the second turbo comes online at 4500rpm the turbos stay non sequencial until the rpms drop below 3000rpm, this as far as i know produces turbo lag giving the feeling of the 2nd turbo not working properly untill higher rpm, Might be this , correct me if im wrong

The KOKO test is effective.
