squeaky plastic is driving me nuts!
So Ive had my 92 FD for about two wheels now everything is going pretty well expect the Squeaky Plastic lol its driving me insane! its coming from the door panels and rear hatch does anyone have a remedy or trick to stop this. I know its a 22 year old car but there has to be something maybe put a rubber sheet between the panels or dynamatt in there???
Just to make you feel better early 93s started to squeak 6 months after they rolled off the showroom floor! Late in the 93's production run Mazda started installing thin adhesive backed felt strips at key locations on the plastic panels. You can do the same for a more permeate fix.
stuff is similar to what Mazda used.
^I've done something similar with the clear silicone. A skim-coat under the shifter panel...and a daub in those push-in tabs that secure it to the console...just let it set overnight before driving. Same thing under the arm-rest/switch panel on the driver's door. Great on the two lower inserts of the divider panel too. Cheap. It's magic goo for stopping the little squeaks.

yeah not too long ago something in the rear hatch area started squeaking. Freaking drives me nuts lol.
First I'll try replacing the rubber grommets and then the silicon to see how that works out.

I filled the backs of my door trims with expanding 2 part urethane foam. While it was still slightly wet, I laid plastic film over the wet foam and clipped the trims back into place, to let it set to the contours of the inner door skin/door pull cables, etc.
When it dried hard, removed the door trims again and trimmed the excess foam away with a knife. Its been about 2 years and zero rattles or flimsy door trims for me. They are rock solid. I demonstrated this to another friend with an FD by punching/thumping the centre of my drivers door trim- it does not move or make any squeaking noises.
Also, a whole lot of road noise is now gone too.

Yep that is exactly where it is coming from! I'll figure it out. Even if i have to squeeze myself into the hatch while my wife drives around.... Oh I'll do it...
i have a horrible squeak in the rear. turns out it is the glass rubbing/vibrating on the trunk. if your driving. have someone push on the glass rom inside the car...hold pressure on it. see if the noise goes away. i plan on having it removed and resealed in the spring. hopefully that fixes it.
