sputtering and backfire when accelerating?

My car has started to pause when I try to accelerate... it will make a sputter/whirring noise followed by a loud *** backfire... given I do have a straightpipe for an exhaust... only seems present at low rpms... I have to gun it to get past it. My leading coil is bad so I'm only running on trailing for now... but it has been running like this for a little while now. Idle is also real jumpy... Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ryker

Yikes! Loss of compression? I hope not.

me too....
its not the usual sound... of low compression though... at least that I remember... This would probably be the worst time of year for that to happen.

When i was doing non-seq to seq switch i got that same thing. If you have been messing with the ecu or something, try reseting it. It fixed my problem.

Its not the coil... its not the ignition box, J&S... has to be some frigging wire somewhere... anyone have any good ideas where to start? I used a volt meter on the coil and its getting no signal. where else can I test it?
Thanks,
Ryker

P.S. I'm sure that its not those things b/c I have swapped all of them for the "fun" of it.
