Arrow Sports Compact Car What A Joke !!!!!

Hey guys i dont know if you know this but this months SCC CHALLENGE had a doo doo of a car FD that got doooggged in the mud. I mean this car had mad power but really looked like crap they say that the FD had red paint in the engine bay and sliver on the outside, but showed no pics. They had the FD almost next to last compared tp the SKYLINE,SUPRA.MR2,TALON.NXS, A FREAKIN RXS and so forth. Im just pissed that they dogg our car every year and give it to a supra or skyline. please post your thoughts thanks. OH YEA they did tests like how comfortable the cars are and rx7 cam last and they used some fat over and out of shape guy to sit and test the comfortablity of the cars. The only good thing was the slalom, but get this it was in the middle of the all the cars when it came to lap time, and mind you the cars like the skyline had like 500 + hp and the supra 470 or 80 and the rx7 had 436 hp. thanks for reading

I think that car had an LS1 V8. Most FDs are not super comfortable especiallly with racing suspension so I'm not surprised they didn't like the ride. I believe it was also finished barely in time for the competition which seems to be the bane of all FDs that have ever "competed" in the SCC Challenge.

But if it even finished the competition it did better than most other FDs or rotary powered vehicles have in the past.

I'm sure with some more tuning and practice at the racetrack the V8 FD could have been much more competitive. I have not read the acticle yet but I'll be sure to sneak a read at the bookstore sometime.

Anyway... I don't think it was a "Joke". At least not the car. If you want to call the competition silly I might not diagree. But the car is nice.

I think that guy's on these forums, his screenname is gnx7. Here's a photo from SevenStock. I didn't get to talk to him personally, so I might be completely wrong here.

Please dont get pissed at me for this but skylines and supras are not to cars that a ls1 rx7 should just blow out of the water. They are two cars that are fine machines that have amazing potential. That magazine is a magazine that focuses on tuner capability instead of the cars. I would like to see was a stock rx7 would to agains a stock supra and skyline but lets be real it wont happen. Untill that time lets stop worring about what some magazine said and start looking at real life autocross overalls and drag times, that to me would be a better way to compare our cars vs others. We all know that the mazda rx7 is a car not to be toyed with, but on the other hand skylines and surpas are not eather.

JUst look at the Time attack battles from japan and the videos. Rx7's are always 2nd or First.

Also no matter what we are here for a reason. Personally every time I look at my FD I cannot help but finding it the most beautiful car. When I go to meets I am always impressed by other rides whereas whenever I see an NSX, M3, Corvette, Viper, Sti, Supra I tell myself yeah its a nice car but it could be better.

The only cars that you will hear me say are way better than my car art the Ultima GTR and TVR Sagaris. But, those cars would murder all of us on the track anyways and we would all have amazing FD;s for 90,000$.

My point is FD, FC, FE, whatever even the new Rx-7 comming in 2007 they are all just in another league and it doesn't matter what some sport comcrap magazine says.

Btw remeber !The 7 Can't loose!

Holy crap! When will the armchair mechanics get back in the toolbox. This is the first time I've seen a car in this challenge that was put together buy a joe average guy like you or I. I met Mark at the racetrack this year right after he got the car done. He built the damn thing on his own without help from ANYBODY. His own time his own money. It pretty damn cool that he was choosen to compete in this endless spewing of money event. Anybody who has not put his sack on the line like Mark and attempted to compete on a tiny budget should stop this endless crying. If you think you have a better car, then send in your application for next year's "street" car challenge.

Rotoober, how about the guy last year with the V6-powered MR2? He was a privateer also, and I believe his car won the competition.

i can attest that mark's car was definitely on the rough side. interior and exterior. but the car's very fast. everything was pretty much built right w/ the exception of interior, amenities, and exterior.

here's pictures of the first ever Socal v8 rx7 meet after 7stock 8

LS1 & LT1 powered.

From Japanese Performance on a specialy tuned Skyline (writing from memory)

"[...] the brief was simple, to be faster on the road than your neighbours 360 modena and circle the Suzuka faster than a particular FD"

...although never specified, I think the FD in question belong to RE Amemiya

I love that we had an FD in the competition, but c'mon guys...it doesn't help us to enter a half-finished car into the competition. Miss this year's competition, FINISH the car, and enter NEXT year's. Work out all the kinks. Get the exterior and interior finished.

A lot of guys on this forum are hardcore "stock exterior or bust" guys. And I gotta tell ya, something like that will NEVER fly in a competition. Doesn't matter if it's making 1200 horses. They're looking for a car that's strong in EVERY aspect. Interior. Exterior. Audio. Speed. Power. Performance. Comfort. etc. The car's gotta be VERY well rounded, and most FD's I've seen aren't. Ppl chose one aspect over another (looks over performance, or vice versa). And yea it's great to have an FD represented in such an event, I think it's a waste of time and makes us look back when a coveted Japanese sports car can't even place above junky regular cars. Don't blame them...blame us for half-assing it and trying to wing it. And that's the truth...really.

AWWW MAN FDNEWBIE you took the words right out of my fingers, thats what i was trying to get across with part anger for the FD's sake, i understand that people who like this mag will say * this was a great comp and all the cars are good ones * thats not what im saying, im saying that every year they had a rx7 with something other than what we see everyday for those that do there own work, one year they had a some dune buggy type car with a 13brew engine the other a real junker FD, and now one with a LS1. Please dont get me wrong, that LS1 im sure can move but how about a reg FD with normal mods that were use too.

i love the 7 to death, and would do anything for it. I DONT think its in another league above a skyline or supra, maybe some of the other cars that were tested though. Although around a track I think the 7 is solid, but not as well rounded as a skyline or supra. The 7 looks better than them, its sleek timeless and elegant compared to their oversized boxy designs. In the end, its personal choice and maybe availability.

Screw SCC. My 7 fits me like a glove. Then again I'm 5' "9 and 155 lbs. Those mags are written by kids that have no professional seat time and little or no education. Their opinions do not concern me.

If someone would ever bring a properly sorted car to one of those things, it MIGHT be a different story.

p.s. Who fitted that RE front end? Looks like it was parked next to a space heater.

Got any proof to that statement? I highly doubt that there will be an '07 Rx7. Maybe an RX-9, but I will be the first one to say I was wrong, if someone can post some proof and not that photochopped RX7 that looks like a Chrysler. Thanx

I don't think the FD can truly "represent" with a V8 in it. The Rotary is a huge part of what makes the Rx-7 what it is. I we want an FD or any Rx-7 for that matter, represented in a competition, I think it should be just that, an Rx-7... and Rx-7s come with Rotary engines.
