Uh...generally, a special edition car that only had a total of 1500 units constructed (and that's over the Type A, B, and C) doesn't have any "options" offered, because they come with them "standard"...

Does anyone even have the Greddy 6 spd. in their car? Not saying in the Spirit R, just any one laid down $6k for it?

Might as well use a RX8 tranny and just send the parts of it out to make sure it can withstand the torque

Not installed but RE has closed shop but here's a small snippet of info and whopping price tag of $7K:

That's not 'whopping' - I've priced out HKS dog-boxes for a customer. Now THAT is pricey (and then you factor in that it needs to be rebuilt regularly....)

This was not an option from mazda Japan. Certainly not on the Spirit R. All FDs with a manual have the same basic synchromeshed 5 speed.

Now what about those special racing edition FDs with all the super-expensive parts that were made down in Aus - perhaps they had a crashbox.

nope - the SPs were essentially the same as an RZ, with an upgraded intake, ic and a nice smattering of CF parts. Gearbox was the same.

I like the fact that the photo shows the price of the tranny in yen. 640,000yen = $5,400. Wonder how much the shipping and tax would be on top of that?

haha, the RX8 Tranny is basically a Miata tranny. The topic has been beaten to death. Search for it.
