Unhappy Speedometer, malfunction... Help !

Basically I tried to unsolder the speedometer from the PC Board to be able to swap my '94 Speedo with my '93 and still keep the milage that's on the '93.. (Less than '94) and have the look of the '94 I got used to... (Hindsight beeing 20/20) I found out you can remove the needles and just swap the Templates... oh well too late now...

What I did was take a multimeter and make sure the wires from the solder points prior to the Speedo, and the one on the speedo were good (Continuety) nad the points from the solder to the pins that stick out on the other end are good... but for some reason I either get 25-30 MPH when standing still or I get nothing and the speedo is dead... I also tried testing continuety between the pins and the coils on the speedo and got nothing, I assume they're insulated to provide the magnetic field... the questions are...

1) If I solder the coil to the pin, will I screw up the coil !?

2) What pins on the back of the PCB of the speedo get the speed signal.. or which harness / pin gets it so I can trace it...

3) How is the spedo work with 4 Pins... I was under the impression 1 Voltage propells the needle in the coil, but it seems to use two, also increasing the voltage from 3-12 volts on two of the four pins seems to make little difference.. the cuircuit on the PCB must somehow controll the coils, since the needle drops past 12'oclock... and we all know that once we slow down it doesn't read 180...
