Whatcha wanna know? Only thing that gave me trouble was the tach. I couldn't get it to read right from the trailing coil after calibration so I had to use the leading. Oil pressure location was the same as the OEM location. I did have to buy a fitting to convert it from NPT to BSPT. The one that came off the OEM unit wasn't the correct pitch. This one to be exact: . Water temp sensor was tapped into the AST. Fuel I tapped into the wires from the OEM cluster. Can't remember the colors off the top of my head one was blue/white I believe. Not sure if it is reading correctly or not yet. Speedo is GPS so just had to wire up power and ground. I ran all power to one of the empty fuse box slots. For the lighting I tapped into the cig lighter bulb wire. Ran all wires through the driver side firewall underneath the fender guard. Sounds like a lot, but once the wires and sensors are ran/tapped it is mainly just keeping it organized to plug into each gauge.

Thanks!! Do you have pictures of how you moint d the sensor to the ast?

Quick question: did you just leave the gap between the factory lens and the black support piece? I mounted the gauge buckets in the same way... but the lense will not sit down all the way. I am considering a different methods where the gauge bucket is mounted to the clear lens piece... but that would mean a much more significant level of fabrication. I already have to repair or trash this lens due to a slightly errant drill bit, so I may experiment.

Yes there will be a slight gap there, but it gets closed up when you bolt the cluster into the housing. The lens squeezes against the gauges and helps hold them in place as well/.

Anyone else having lighting issues? I wired the 2 light wires together as well as the 2 ground wires as recommended but only the needles and odometer lights up. The numbers are supposed to glow red but I'not getting anything. I sent Speedhut an email and started a chat session but I got no response. I think its a bad light inverter but was wondering if that's commonhttps://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...00f373645f.jpg

^ Happened to me too. My background light was working for a few days but now I have the same issue as you. Only the needles light up. Annoying as hell and speedhut dont seem to know why. They did send me another light inverter to try out but I havent had to time to install it yet.

Are the head lights on? I messed around with mine and it was doing the same, but i found the correct wire for lightning, . If i am not mistaking are two different sources, one when switch is on and the other when the head lights comes on(night time). If you have the this two correct, play a little bit with the dimmer. Rotate the dimmer knob all the way to the right(On), turn the ignition switch off then, turn the ignition switch back on.

Which wire did you use? First I wired them to the light bulb from the cigarette lighter. When that didn't work, I used the illumination wire from the stereo

Yep, two different sources. One for power and the other for lighting. I used the empty power slot out of the fuse box for all the power and the cig lighter bulb for illumination.

Does the stereo have to be on for the illumination to work? Just thinking out loud what it could be.

Very Nice!

The red wire to the cigarette lighter power source(its on with ignition ON ), this wire is going to give you power to operate the gauges without any lightning on the niddles or fonts. The other power source wire for the withe wire, I can't remember, lol... I found it on the factory harness plug. Using a multimeter, turn the key to the ON possition, should have 0 v. Turn the light ON and if you get 12v , you have found it.

Red94fd 06-24-18 03:33 PM

Let me check if I have some pics of the wire.

The stereo doesn't have to be on. The power source doesn't actually come from the stereo itself. It just uses the power source to know when to dim the stereo lights.

The white wire powers the needle and odometer lights. These lights aren't controlled by the inverter so the will not dim with the SH dimmer switch.

I finally got a hold of Speedhut customer service. I had to verify that the sources I was using was indeed getting 12v. Once I verified that the light source from the cigarette lighter is 12v they narrowed the issued down to a bad inverter. The new inverter came in a I installed yesterday and can now verify the the font lights are now working. My issue was a bad inverter whole time

Post a picture pls!! Would love to see those gauges on!

There are 2 shades of red you can choose from I believe.

gmonsen 07-22-18 01:32 AM

Ah. I have the gauges installed with their silver gray faces, but decided to order the same faces as XxBoostinxX7. Going to be a pain taking the gauges back out and swapping the faces.

DocHoliday89 08-12-18 12:25 AM

Do you guys think 2 1/16 prosport digital gauges would fit in the smaller locations on the stock panel? What is it about the Speedhut gauges, apart from the diameter, that allows them to fit well?

David Hayes 08-15-18 09:01 AM

Question for those that have done this conversion. Almost at step one, when you remove the Speedhut chrome bezel cover for the gauges, did you also remove the front black plastic ring (not the back one) that slides into the front of the gauges, inside of the front outer ring? The one that holds down the face? If so, you've had no issues with the face of the gauges sliding around?

I'm in process of doing the conversion, and I see if I leave in the front plastic ring, then the install is not as clean as what is shown but I am concerned about the faces flopping around or, that light will emit from the edges of the front if I don't insert the plastic ring.

Comments? Thanks!

David Hayes 08-16-18 04:55 AM

Anyone?

I haven't done the install myself but I think one of the things that makes speed hut gauges fit well is the depth of the gauge. I cant say for certain since I dont have any to measure yet, but it looks like speed hut gauges dont have as big a depth as those from prosport.

David Hayes 08-16-18 09:35 AM

The 2 1/16 SpeedHut gauges are 1.1" in depth. By contrast, the Prosport digital gauges are 1.5", so no, I don't think they will fit. I just did the conversion and space is tight in the FD cluster.

Testrun 08-16-18 09:58 AM

This is awesome. David would you mind sharing any issues or things not covered? I am getting ready to order, but not sure if I will tackle this myself or have someone else do it while I work on the stereo or whatever.

Testrun 08-16-18 09:59 AM

Hadokenny, what was the issue with your lightning. I never saw where you posted the fix.
