Last time I took my car to my specialist I had the following things done to my car.
1. Installation of a dual gauge pod with a boost gauge and an oil temperature gauge.
2. Substitution of the o ring and oil seal
3. Substitution of a rose joint.
4. Changing of a rubber pipes to silicone vacuum pipes “some 18 feet of pipes to change”
5. Changing of upper manifold gasket.
6. Had rare differential checked
7. Had gear box checked as well.

The car stayed at his garage for a week and he worked daily on it besides the dozens of other cars he had to work on. I know this because he is always so kind to let me stay by his side when ever I want and he has the patients of explaining to me everything he is doing and that I ask in detail.

For all the above mentioned work he charged me $275 spare parts apart.

So what do you think about the price? High? Normal? Low? I know many of you do the work on their own but if you went to a specialist what would your bill be for the work only in your country?

 

A friend of mine works at a Toyota dealership. Labor is $75 / hour. That is slightly high for mechanics, but in my opinion, a specialist would be worth that. Luckily, my car has not needed to be worked on by a specialist.

My mom always told me that I'm special, if that makes any difference.

That is cheap by any standard.

I have had my front calipers rebuilt (I think this with springs installation took the most time to do), springs installed, exhaust installed (with some manual welding for the muffler mount) and front calipers were shaved a bit (they were a bit warped and scratched). I payed almost $200 without parts.

So you either have a super-fast mechanic or he's super-cheap

 

Well work is always done by the time he tell me he is going to finsih except when he has really lots of work to do like now for example.

I just have been to him and he has a total of 6 RX7s including mine and excluding some other 9 cars.
