Spec-R Dump Valve

Hello again,

I was looking at a very nice group-A spec Stainless Dump valve from a company called Spec-R.

Unfortunately they don't make specific parts for RX7's, but the dump valve they make looks very nicely made and seems of the same type as the likes of Greddy and HKS etc.

Here's a link;

If anyone has opinions on this or feel that this product will cause more problems than it's worth please feel free!

Thanks

Andrew

waste of money, the stock BOV works fine.

The only reason to upgrade is for that stupid "ricer" sound.

If you want mods that are worth more and cause less problems, this is not on your list. It probably won't create any issues, but the money spend instead on new coolant hoses, fuel filter, and other maintenance items is much better spent.

Ok, fair enough.

I have a HKS BOV on the car at the moment which I think is causing a problem whenever I back off the throttle. I'm going to try and revert back to the original to see if it makes any difference.

Thanks for the replies.

It's a little difficult to explain, but it seems that some other owners have suffered the same problem.

When I'm driving in traffic in say 2nd gear, when I come off the throttle there can be sudden slow down effect from the engine. It's not very bad but noticable, and can be bad for the neck!

I had a very similiar situation with my previous car (a Citreon) whereby when you came of the throttle the injectors would immediately stop and this would make the car difficult to drive in slow traffic. They cured the problem with different style valve on the later models.

It could be my fault by installing an intake kit (GruppeM kit), or it could be the dump valve screwing around with the turbos. Apart from a polished intake manifold the car has no other mods.
