spark plug changing

Has anyone found a clever way to make it easier to change the front spark plugs? I have used a variety of extensions, flexible u-joints, working above and below the engine and it is still a PIA. I can do the change on my 2nd gen in half the time with half the cussing and swearing.

Nope. I just keep cussing and scraping knuckles. Just a deep socket and ratchet.

Garfinkle does them from the bottom ,it takes more time to jack it up than to change out the four plugs. I do not think he can do his own from the top because of the lack of room . the bottom is a clear shot.

I bought a set of 3 flex head stubby ratchets from Harbor Freight for 12 bucks.

Unfortunately, I bought them about a week before my car caught fire.

I haven't had a chance to try them out yet. Another option is this palm ratchet thing I saw at Kragen-looked like a knurled wheel with the 3/8" nub in the middle, ratcheted as you spun the wheel. I'm sure you all know what I am talking about.

You could just remove your AC and PS...I can change my spark plugs in the dark in 10 minutes!

I think going from the bottom with the stubby flex head ratchets Mastacow was talking about is probably the easiest... or just ripping all the extra stuff works pretty well too...

spark plug change

Or...............start on the page in the FSM for removing the engine. It's a piece of cake with the engine out of the car. Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately I have tried all of them- except removing the AC and PS- so I guess I keep doing it the old fashioned way. #@%^&*()!
