Re: Sparco vs Recardo seats

Well depends what model line for each manufacturer you're referring to. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of Sparco seats... the build quality of them leaves something to be desired. I believe most Sparco seats are lighter than Recaros, but they're also more lacking in functionality (ie recline, lumbar, etc...). Price wise the Sparco's are much cheaper than Recaro's. You get what you pay for.

Sparco have become a lot cheaper lately (last 2 years)..If you can get the older ones...get em..they are better quality then say the newer torino/milano recliners(mainly because of the adjustment ***** stuff.. The non -recliners however are very nice. Just as good or better then recaro..IMHO

Between the two, I would choose Recaro. Sparcos are very easy to come by as compared to Recaro. Yes, the Recaros cost more, but I would still choose them over Sparcos.

I dont know I think recaro's are pretty easy to come buy...see them all the time in the euro-world suped up cars..availabilty or lack there of should not be the sole reason to get recaro over sparco...(dont make sense)

There are some recaro's I would choose over sparco..yes and there are some sparco I would choose over recaro..
I like my supersports alot...they dont make them anymore but I love em'

the difference between a sparco and a "recardo" is like the difference between a Porsche and a Honda.

there is no comparison.

they are Recaros, but no one knows the part number or model name. they are not sold publicly. the only way is through Mazda of Japan.

word is they are around $3800 each!

I'll like Recaros. A friend has them in his ITR and they are awsome.

But they are too expensive imho. When I save up some cash I'll go for Velo Racing seats:

Very nice seats at a good price. I'll like the GP200 in carbon/cevlar!! and only $AU1200 (~$US600). I just hope that they fit ok.

Recaro SRDs are some of the best seats around. not too spensy...$600....but they are reclinable. (sp?)

non reclining seats in a road car = major pain in the ***!

Umm yeah thats a pretty good price for Recaros, I thought they were like $3k! Probably hard to get them here in Australia tho, and I'm sure they like to mark up prices here a bit as well.

Reclining in the Rx-7 not so important to me. I just want a seat thats lightwight and that will give me more legroom and headroom.

I have no issues with my Sparco Roadsters, except for:

1) Could not get them in Alcantara/Suede and

2) Trying to get them to fit in the damn FD! (acutally, its the FD's cramped interiors fault...)

Heh heh, thought it wiser to start with the passenger side, figure it out - then do the drivers. I'm making brackets ala Rob Robinette - this after modding the Sparco universal bottom bracket kit and finding out it sits a hair too high and sits too staright up.

I'm a bit worried about the clearance of the seatbelt receiver though. Anyways, completely redoing the interior, painting the plastic, FGing the doors, sound dampening, hunting ... every ... last ... squeak... down, hehe.

Its tiny to wide up top aesthetically, but every seat has something I dont like about. I'm going to have the insets redone in dark grey ultra suede to match the plastic, so i'm hoping that will 'break up' the mass of black material. Anyways, I like it the best overall.
