Angry Sorry guys...need to rant!

Okay,
1. I've spent 6,171.73 in service on my car since Aug.
2. I bought the car for $13,000 (Aug. 8th, 2005)
3. Now...I need to spend $11,000 to get it fixed.
------$6,000 for a turbo assembly rebuild, $3,000 for a new engine, and 27 hrs of labor at $89 per hr =$2,403
4. Spent $565 for new tires this week too...cause the car needed those
5. Sooo..... that's
$31,139.73 since AUG. 8th

Still a student, making $10/hr and NO financial help from the parents.

Yes, i realize what this means. I have to jump the bandwagon and sell the FD like so many others have done recently. This has been THE car of my dreams and i was SOOO happy to finally own one after researching and dreaming for the past 8 yrs or so. I've met a lot of good people on this forum who have helped through the way. Thanks for everything guys!!! I'm going to miss this forum, and someday, i hope to have better luck with an FD.

You can get a brand new 99'spec turbo assembly from rx7.com for under $3k.

Sounds like you're getting a bum deal on servicing..

What on earth did you spend $6k on since august?

Yeah, that is ridiculous. Take it to Kevin at Rotary Resurrection in TN. It won't cost you anywhere near that. What services did you spend $6,000 on? I can't really think of anything that would add up to $6000... at least not for an FD that cost $13,000(I would assume it was a pretty good shape FD).

Agreed! Or better yet, learn to do the work yourself. These cars aren't that difficult work on.

LOL wow

After you're done getting RAPED, go back to that shop about a week later and check out the boss's new car.

Seriously dude, i dont know how you fell into their trap. I mean its one thing to get it fixed because it has alot of problems but that much? 6K for a turbo rebuild? Are they replacing internal parts with diamonds? And what was 6k that you spent on to get it fixed before?

Seems like you got yourself in this mess. I would have stopped at the first 6k raping.

yeah what is the car doing (or not doing in some cases) that who ever is ripping you a new a**hole is charging you so much. $6k for turbos is a lot for that much you an go single including fuel upgrade and ECU.

Hold on disregard all of above, sounds like you need some rotor super fluid, headlamp fluid, alternator batteries and a case of lug nut bearing. I give you $1000 for the car.

I'm sure you've already checked, but I'll sell you my factory twin turbos cheap to help you out. From what I remember they are perfectly fine and only removed because I went single. PM me if you're interested. Nonetheless it does sound like you're getting some bullshit price quote on the twins, if you check around you'll save a great deal on some of the stuff you need. Good luck.

Okay....evidently the original poster hasn't spent ONE minute on this forum, as he has NO clue on cost of parts and service.
I, like others, have a REAL hard time wondering what could have cost $6,171 in just a few months, only to turn around and need new turbos and a new engine?
Either this guy is pulling our legs or he is just THE most uninformed FD owner on the planet.
Do I sound harsh? Well....sorry if it offends, but it is the truth.
Jebus H. Christmas but EVERYONE that has even BROWSED these boards knows you can get good used turbos for half a grand. Even brand new state-of-the-art twins only go for $3K for God's sake!

If this story isn't totally bogus, then yeah...the owner of that shop is either going to be parting out some nice used FD parts, or else is going to be driving to work in a new Beemer, with a personalized plate that says, THNKSKID....lol!

Hey man, rule of thumb... don't let any "mazda" dealership work on your car. They aren't the most knowledgable technicians when it comes to the FD. They will rape you on price as well. www.rotaryresurrection.com check him out. You can also check his feedback in the good guy/bad guy forum. You can get your engine removed, rebuilt, and reinstalled for like $2300 if memory serves me correctly. If your turbo's are bad, pick up a good used pair for $500 and slap them on. You are looking at a MAX of $4000.

Why are you going to a Mazda dealer for work? There are good rotary experts near you that would actually properly diagnose any problems and not rip you off royally.

The reason some members here are razzing you is because it is basic forum knowledge that, in general, Mazda dealers are a terrible place to take these cars. Believe it or not, I would bet that everyone in this thread feels sorry for you, despite the tone of their posts. On the other hand, you need to learn a bit more about these cars so don't continue to get raped by Ferdinand the Bull here....

If it needs 11.5k in work and your unable to afford that pm me and I might be able to take it off your hands for the right price. Otherwise look into bringing it to pfs (expensive but the best), RP Performance (reasonably priced and very good work). These are the only two companies in nova that I have dealt with personaly but there are sevral others in your area with good reputations.
