Talking Soooooooo I picked up another FD Last Night!!!

Hey,

Well a buddy of mine contacted me on wednesday regarding an FD that was for sale. We had a brief chat about the details and I mentioned I was definitely interested. Keep in mind, I was never in the market for another FD. My car takes more than enough of my time and money and I'm not in anyway looking to take on additional projects.

By the end of wednesday my buddy and I had spoken several times and he had already done me the favor of actually inspecting the car. He met with the owner and the price had been agreed upon. All the parties involved were busy for the holiday so we decided to hopefully complete the transaction Friday.

So, yesterday evening I made the arrangements and another one of my buddies, my mechanic and I all went down to check out the FD. I knew exactly what to expect since my friend did an awesome job of detailing the car for me. We checked out the car for some time, tried negotiating on price, and eventually, I picked myself up another FD . Most importantly, I got this for a STEALLLL!!!!

Important Details:

93 R1 w/90xxx miles
Red Exterior w/Black Interior (Interior = 10/10 MINT!!!)
Blitz FMIC (Already taken!)
Power FC
Fluidyne Radiator
Aftermarket Pulleys
A/C, Airpump, and Power Steering removed
RB Dual Tip Exhaust
Midpipe
Downpipe
Volk Racing Wheels: GT-C 18x9 Front and 18x10 Rear with TONS of tread left. Practically brand new tires.
Boost Guage w/gauge pillar

Flaws:

Blown Engine (Possibly = the owner doesn't know for sure and he took it to a Mazda dealership and they couldn't diagnose it!).

Needs new clearcoat and a good buff/sand/polish/wax job.

Engine Bay needs to be cleaned up since there is oil EVERYWHERE.

I picked it up late last night and now it's nestled in with my baby . Since, I have no intention of starting any more projects this car will become my parts car and anything which I don't use (which will be TONS of stuff) I plan on selling. The entire car is up for sale, but I will NOT sell it whole.

Here's a couple pics of my second FD:

And one quick picture of my project FD:

I'm SUPERRRR excited

Later,

Rizwan

Riz I still can't believe you got your hands on that FD. I didn't believe it until I saw it happen with my own two eyes. GREAT FIND!!! Don't sell it start another project LOL. Time to go bankrupt with two unfinished projects.

Am I missing something? It seems like a shame to part out a beautiful car like that when someone could put it back on the road pretty much intact (even if it does need a new engine).

I agree with the 2 guys above me. Now, if you are simply selling off some of the aftermarket parts and putting it back to stock to sell it whole, then that's one thing.

But if you are going to just dismantle it and part it out, quite frankly I think that's pretty fucked up. These cars are extremely rare, and most of the ones I've seen/worked on recently are beat up pieces of ****. Parting out one with a mint interior and which is otherwise in good shape is a horrible thing.

Riz, please tell me that the situation is the first one I described, not the second

Alrite, I'll clarify a few things for everyone. It may be fault, but I NEVER intended to say I was going to completely strip the car. The entire car will be sold, but I will NOT be stripping it simply for parts. Here's my exact intentions with the car and I'll point out exactly why I came to this conclusion.

Basically, once I realized I was buying the car I had two options: 1- Have this be my daily RX-7 since I'm not really sure what to expect out of my project car; 2- Take what I want, sell off what I can and then sell the car.

The reason I decided not to go with option 1 is that the engine on this car is completely trashed. The kid before me apparently blew it up while overboosting. There is oil spewn everywhere along the driver side firewall. The fuel pump is bad on the car, along with some other issues, and since the car doesn't start I don't know what other problems are involved.

The exterior on the car isn't in the greatest shape. I Carfax'd the car and it's clean, but their are several dents on the body, and the paint has been chipped, or completely taken off on certain panels of the body. Also, the previous owner used a pressure washer on the car and it ripped off the clear coat in several areas.

There are more issues that me being the person I am would need to put an additional $8000.00 to make the car just right with slight modifications done.

So, since I'm not in a position to have 2 projects going on at once especially considering how much of everything my first project demands, I wanted the car for my own parts. I have no intention of ripping all the panels out and stripping the car completely. What I do plan on doing is basically selling the car in one of two ways:

1- I'll have it repainted, dents repaired, swap the interior with a COMPLETE tan interior 9.5/10 (Only b/c of wear on driver's side seat), replace rims with stock 16's remove the rotary related engine components, and finally sell a complete rolling shell FD.

2- I still have it repainted, dents repaired, swapped interior, replaced rims, but I leave the rotary related components in with the exception that the car will be sold stock.

Both options provide the future owner with the option to do what he likes what the car, and in either case I will be returning this car to a stock hopefully 10/10 exterior/interior car. I'm just as much a rotary and FD lover as anyone here. I've had my first and favorite FD for over 5 years now and I love it ! I really wish I could keep this car for myself and have it as my daily RX-7, but it's really too stupid an idea for me to be considering.

I hope that explains/clarifies a lot of things. I'm open to offers .

Later,

Riz

Good boy, I was wondering if you were going to just gut the car as well as there are enough being wrecked that we don't need to help them along by completely stripping a good clean body all because the motor is shot.

I still want that one little part I asked you for though

Not to get off topic but are those Burnout front fenders on your black FD?

Nice find and have fun with the new project.

That doesn't clairfy anything. I don't understand how you can swap out the parts from the red car onto your car, put your stock parts back on the red car, and still have lots of parts to sell??? What exactly do you plan on selling? It sounds like you are going to ruin the red car, destroying another rare FD that could easily be repaired.

LoL, I thought about that, but that just means more money being put in to the car. Maybe someone else will want it for that purpose. The previous owner mentioned he had people coming over that were interested in doing the swap.
