Cool some times it sucks to drive a manual FD

today i threw my neck/back out at work as i reached over to my glove box to get a cap thing i gotta wear. In anycase, I could hardly move my neck/right arm with out getting huge shooting pains which kinda cramped up my neck/back/arm all at the same time. As I was comming home from work about 4 hours later, I had to drive my manual/stick FD unfortunatly. I recently fixed a huge boost leak and installed a ball/spring boost controller (home depot rules, 10 bucks later and you would not believe the type of boost response I'm getting). I also stiffened my suspension up a bit when I jacked up my car to pass recon (recon is a stupid law we have here in Hawaii/Oahu, other islands dont even have it!). Even if I would gently push on the gas, my boost would go up fast making me accelerate foward, my car would jump foward making my neck/back/arm all cramp up. That in combination with the stiffer suspension made me actually start tearing by the time I got home which is only 7 miles away. (you would not believe the type of pain I was in).

Some times I wish I had an auto civic or SUV with super soft suspension and very low power

Anyone else have any stories like this?

Glad to hear you still have your car!! It's never a bad thing to have an FD. (just expensive) What did all that recon **** end up costing you in court cost? (or did they wave it cause you fixed the car)My only complaint with my FD was the 6 puck unsprung light switch clutch that was in there!

Manual transmission FD's ******* suck!!! I'm really happy with my automatic FD just for this very reason. Thanks for reminding me, skunks.

Jonski, that was a funny post about manual trans FD sucking. Are you a paid comedian or do your buddies just think you are the funniest guy in your group? There are small sacrifices driving manuals (I have 3 manual trans cars) and there are some more sacrifices driving an FD, but each are worth it and I would never buy an automatic performance car.

I sprained my right wrist and had to painfully drive the manual transmission. It really sucked at work, too.

Are you for real. I think I'll order an Enzo with an automatic.

Next you'll want to fit a full size sheet of plywood in the FD.

My main sacrifice is that I have problems hauling my girlfriends hot friends along with us. Maybe I just need to install some back seats, hmmmmm.

All I can say, is that while owning an FD is an experience like nothing else, you do learn to appriciate more practical vehicles for what they are. Good MPG, spacious interiors, softer suspension, greater reliability and safety, along with 4 seats go a long way. Every time I get a comment about the FD, I let people know that they have very little to envy...many times, I envy the little things that their vehicles offer (largest being a peace of mind).

That is the reason why you need two cars when one of them is an FD. I switch off between my FD and Ford F-250 Turbo Diesel. One is practical for my line of work (oil field) and the other one is for the dog and pony shows with clients. Can you guess which vehicle is used for what? The real scary thing is that I have been looking at and seriously considering a Honda Hybrid as a third, fuel efficient car.
