Some not so quite stock holes ....

I'm in the process of rebuilding my engine and while removing everything from the block, I came across some interesting holes that were drilled into the TB and exhaust manifold. Included are the pics of them. Has anyone came across these before?

I'd have to look at my old exhaust manifold, but I know for sure that the TB is normal.
