Back home in Puerto Rico when they have rotary vs piston races you'll see guys with actual rotors and pistons in the grandstands and when someone of either band wins they start banging them against the bleachers. It's all for fun. At the end of the day everyone had a great time and there are no problems. It's all in the spirit of fun. Ease up dude! By the way nice FD.

Honestly, your mostly stock car can really beat a car that puts out 350 to the wheels? Something's not right....

When I see that pic, I think of some punk with the sticker of a kid pissing on chevy or ford or whatever, and how stupid that really looks.

The picture is pretty stupid, and to top it off, by posting that, you're looking to get razzed. You have a sticker that says ford sucks on your car, you have to expect that Mustang owners are gonna want to whoop your *** everytime they're beside you, and vice versa.

Post a pic of a rotor hanging a piston...that's ****** stupid! It deserves for me to say something. Even funnier is you threatening me with your 17psi. You should find out what I have before you talk ****.

Quite honestly, its whats to be expected on this forum. This is RX7Club , what would bring 98% of this forum's members here but they love of the rotary. Even I refer to piston motors as "pissed on" motors from time to time but its all in fun and support of the rotary. Just like people bad mouth eachothers favorite sports team, its all in fun.

I have nothing against piston engines, hell I'm pursuing a professional racing career with the WKA, Toyota Atlantic, Formula Renault, Cart or IRL, then hopefully FIA GP2, and finally FIA F1. Any rotary power in there... nope, but at the end of the day, the highest performance street car I'll have in my garage at home will be a rotary (Most likely my FD).

Let's do a stock for stock comparison Ls1 vs Rotary:

Overall horsepower -- LS1
Efficiency -- LS1
Torque down low -- LS1
Weight -- Even
Emissions -- LS1
Response from modifications -- LS1(By far, no end to what you can do)
Nitrous -- LS1
Gas Mileage -- LS1
Reliability -- LS1(Wow that was a tough one)
Sound of the motor -- LS1

This is a complete runaway.
Whether you want to admit it or not, the LS1 FD's are kicking ***. And everyone who drives them comments on how fun they are from the torque. Stock LS1's run 11.40's. Wait till they fit the turbo kits...look out! All of this with a 6 speed to boot. I have a T78 2 rotor that'll go low 11's, and I still have my eyes open enough to see where the real power is.

Let's do a comparison on how idioic you are:

Overall horsepower: LS1 motor makes more and also weighs more (Weight (lb)* 459 (automatic) 503 (manual) compared to a rotary which is in the hundreds

Efficiency-- Depends on if the LS1 is turbo or not.. and also if the rotary is turbo or not

Weight-- are you serious?

emissions-- again, are you serious?

Response from modifications-- Looks like you were starting to run out of ideas here

Nitrous-- madzzz nawzzz yeoooooo... who cares about nitrous? It's for homos

Gas mileage-- Ask your mommy for more money for gas if your going to cry about it.

Reliability-- LS1 lasts longer if non turbo but cost more to rebuild by far

sound of motor-- you were really stretching here huh.. thats purely opinion

I also added on my sig for you again, just to please you

there does seem to be a lot of bitching on this forum though..this is about the tenth case ive come across now and i dont come on here very often..you dont get any of this on the uk forum..at the end of the day if your offended with the great funny pic on an rx7 forum then go away and stop insulting folks. Calling everyone geeks aint gonna get friends is it?

as much as your posts in this thread were uncalled for, you may be 95% right on this post..

Overall horsepower -- LS1 (stock? yes, potential to make more power, i say even)
Efficiency -- LS1 (probably)
Torque down low -- LS1 (correct)
Weight -- Even
Emissions -- LS1 (correct again, and us rotary guys cant do anything about this)
Response from modifications -- LS1(By far, no end to what you can do) agreed, but i have seen some rotaries modded ***** to the wall, its just not reliable enough
Nitrous -- LS1 (i guess if you prefer nitrous)
Gas Mileage -- LS1 (definitely)
Reliability -- LS1(Wow that was a tough one) def def right here, anyone who argues with this has their head up where the sun dont shine
Sound of the motor -- LS1 (personal preference here, im not a v8 guy, never liked the sound much so its preference)

as much as i love rotary and rx7s, you have to understand reality..most of us have our lives revolving around rx7s so we think its untouchable..especially new technology out now? forget about it, our engines cant compare..

we choose our cars cause we like them for whatever reason. you like being unique, the sound, the power, rareness whatever..

You're 19 year old kid, I wouldn't expect any less.
Nitrous for homos? Oh my god, this is a complete waste of time.
So I'm arguing this point with someone who's been driving for 3 years...great.
I have 7 piston motored cars I cruise around with right now, slowest guy going 10.80's street trim. Quickest going low 9's on drag radials driving it to the track. This is only in this small little area, let alone a bigger racing scene like Toronto where doctor's and lawyer's run against each other pulling their cars off of flatbeds. This is a far cry from beating up on 12 sec cars.
Talk is over, please feel free to bring your FD's here at any time, there will always be someone that's ready to run.
Here's the chance for you and your buddies to back up your picture. You can PM me from now until late October to set it up.
Hey, it's all in good fun.

what i dont understand is-
the guy doing all the **** talking, "hardonboy" or whatever his name is, owns an rx-7. what is he, some kind of dumbass? We love rotary engine for its feeling, not its specs or numbers. Get it through your thick head that 1/4 mile times aint everything.

hardbodeez,
I can't believe I just typed that.... Anyway, while I agree with you on the merits of an LS1, etc, you are being completely childish about it. Grow up.

If I wanted a small block, I'd probably buy a vette. You can get a C5 these days for near what it would cost you to put a V8 in an RX-7. No hack job, a good bit of aftermarket support, a proven platform, frankly a car that is almost as good looking as a 7. Plus you have a(n), arguably, better platform for mods....of course I'd probably never buy a vette because everybody has one. I guess that's why I have a RX-7. Being unique isn't always better, but in this case, IMO, it's worth it.

From what I noticed, cars are overall much more expensive in Europe than in the US. I know that motorsports is a big thing over there, here, we have to deal with basketball, footbal, baseball, volleyball, track, cheerleading, you get the drift...

I think because of that early enthusiasm it doesn't help the prices of cars and also insurance.

At least you get to drive a Radical Motorsports car on the roads legally!!!

Hey Nopistons, I had nothing against you being 19, but the fact you've only been driving for 3 years.

I'm gonna post one last time here. No blaming Canada bullshit, I'm not falling into that trap with you guys. (Many LS1 guys on here think rotaries suck that are American, but, nice try on the Canadian theory though)
Straight up, I like the FD, think the motor sucks. I've been through the ups and downs with this motor, and I personally can say it sucks. I'm not blaming anyone for liking the motor or the car. You hang a piston in a picture, well, hey, you're gonna draw some attention.
No more 10 pages of this. Bring the FD's with the rotory...because that's what this is rotary vs piston.
I can't wait to see you guys try to hook the Independent rears on the street. We don't race 3 beeps @40MPH B.S. It's an actual 1/4 mile on the street from a dead stop.
I'm finished with replying back and forth making this 100 pages long. You don't need to take a few weeks of work you can do it in a weekend.
Bring the car here and prove to me why a rotary is better, straight up. Don't post if you can't back it up.
Let's get together and do this.
I'll be waiting for your PM Goodfellow. Don't type anymore B.S. boys, bring the cars and prove it.
