So I bought a used engine!
LoL first mistake I guess.
So the end irons are completely thrashed. I start investigating and notice metal pieces laying in the rotor gears. I then notice notches in the rotors (pics attached). Any one have any ideas on what went down? Any one with enough experience to tell what the metal is? Did someone dent the rotors on purpose? Odd the notches are in the same spot on both.

I've never seen an iron that looked that worn down. damn.
Regarding the notches in the rotors, they are there for a reason: after you align and press in the rotor bearing, there is a small offset piece of the bearing that is bent inward that is designed to fit in that notch. This is so that the bearing stays locked in place and doesn't spin as the rotors/e-shaft do.
It's hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like the notched portion of the bearings actually are missing from both of them. Either whoever built that motor had NO idea of what they were doing, or the motor spun both bearings.
