does anyone know if the rx7 will pass emissions without the precat?

my rx7 has an aftermarket downpipe, and i know it wont pass visual inspections, but i was wondering if the emissions part will pass.

 

You should still be able to pass just fine (many of us have). Just get the car GOOD and warmed up before the test. And don't worry about the visual. Unless your downpipe is polished to a mirror shine, the inspector will never even notice it.

 

i've read that it can, since most places wont do coldstart emissions test.

they noticed my DP when they inspected my fd.

but i dont have emission tests here so i passed.

dp is no problem. take a look at the west section for all the smog info.

i passed with IC, intake, DP, CB after puttingthe stock ecu back in.

 

The first smog I had when I lightly modded my FD it passed. Then the second time came around (Test Only), and I was scared that I wouldn't pass emissions since I passed the first time w/ a silencer. To my suprise, I passed w/o one too. My few mods are d/p, cat-back, intake and BOV. I think they were questioning the BOV during the visual (which took a while), but it seemed like they could care less and went on w/ the sniffer.
