smog pump/air pump and bushings

I took my car to RR to get a major check-up and found I need to get my smog pump replaced. is the smog pump also called an air pump? I did a search on smog AND pump, and everyone keeps talking about their air pump. same thing? Anywhere I could order this online, or is this common enough to go to autozone/kragen/grand to get?

p.s. oh yeah.. I need new bushings. where can I get 'em? any difference in type/brand/etc?

thanks again from the newbie

they are the same thing....buy the smog pump used...much cheaper. i bet you can pick one up for $30 if you look hard enough. plenty of people should have one lying around their garage. check this board and www.thepartstrader.com

do a search for bushings and you'll find the unobtanium ones that will be sold now by n-tech engineering and also mazdaspeed bushings which are much more expensive....i'm sure someone can chime in here about where to buy them...

alot of the posts show people removing them. I'm asuming there's a reason for this. anyone want to specify?

horsepower mostly, but without it you won't be passing sog tests if that is a concern to you... Personally I think you can still get plenty of hp and run legal with it on though...
I know I have one sitting around the shop I would gladly part with for cheap.

Dont remove it... you are in california and you need to have the pump to pass the test.. People only remove it when they go single turbo or when the go to a straight pipe (removal of main cat)..I dont like going though the hassle of finding a person to smog my car every 2 years..Which I am going though now
