Small single turbo options?

I am pretty sure the answer to my question is no but a little insight would be helpful. I do not know much about turbo sizes and configurations.

I currently have stock turbos and they work very well. I have been thinking about simplifying the car and considering a single turbo. I am not looking for additional power over what I already have. My car is mostly stock, my signature describes it. I understand the point of the sequential twins gives the best of both worlds regarding low range and high range power. I know turbos have come a long way since 1992 and I began to wonder if there is a small single that would have the same response as the stock twins and still have enough capacity to give stock or slightly higher than stock power through the range.

this is one of the more impressive single turbo setups ive seen as far as low end power:

It's possible if you are willing to spend the money and take the time to build a quality setup. If you go with a cheap ebay or cast manifold, front mount intercooler with long piping, old technology or poorly sized turbo, ect then performance and spool will obviously suffer. Try contacting a vendor willing to piece a custom kit to fit your goals, Turblown would be a good choice.

Although I havent seen much, if any data at all but the GReddy 18g or 20g turbo kit for the FD, and Apexi's RX-6 Isamu turbo kit are pretty much the smallest you can get, and get response that is better or on par with stock twins in good working order and get around 350hp at fairly high boost level (about 15+ psi)

I've seen a few youtube vids of both of these turbos on FD's and the one thing I cant deny is that just from the sound, these FD's have excellent response.

If you're not looking for much power these two, and even that 35R link DriftDreamz posted can work well

I know you are leaning towards a single, but dont miss doing some research on the BNR stage 3's in sequential.

I drove my buddies FD before he sold it, and I really want to say its very difficult for me to go single turbo because it made great power and had excellent response for a street car. If I wasnt going for no more than 350-400hp I would have seriously considered the BNR twins

There is usually one problem with small singles, very potent compressor but too small hotside for rotary application. But is seems that Precision, for example, has many products, which should suit well for your intentions - PT5558, 5858 or 5862. Comp turbo also offers many combinations of compressor and turbine wheels.

I mentioned these as I feel, that there is significant gap between turbochargers which are considered as smallest singles for rotaries - old school T04E 57/60 trims and modern GT35R, former supporting something over 400 HP and later over 500 HP...
