Slow speed vibration... any ideas?

Hi guys. The other day, my shifter started vibrating from side to side slightly when driving around 30mph and under load. The vibration seems to increase in speed with rpm but it goes away by 40mph and doesnt seem to come back at higher speeds. When I let off the throttle, it also goes away. It's mostly just annoying when driving away from a stop with my hand on the shifter.

I checked the diff mounts and they appeared ok, all rear suspension bushings were changed last year and the tires were balanced last year too. I reluctantly looked for a cracked/bent rim but luckily everything looks ok.

Any ideas what would cause this??

Possible broken nylon bushing in shifter assembly??? Maybe the shifter is just loose???

I would open up the shift lever assembly (from inside the car), and take a look.

Tranny was rebuilt 2 years ago along with the shifter bushings. It's definitely the engine/tranny/diff assembly that's moving around not just the ****. Maybe oscillation is a better term to use than "vibration" to describe the feeling.

I'm thinking driveshaft but has anyone had a low speed only drive shaft problem??

Mine did the same exact thing and it got progressivly worse over time. it turned out i had a blown out motor mount. Replaced them and the problem vanished.

Drive shaft will get worse as speed increases.

It feels just like the old (unbalanced) driveshaft on my friends FC, but you're right, that did get worse at speed. I dont feel any vibration at all after 40mph... definitely there from 30-40mph.
