I hope it's that easy to fix and the 5th gear is still there. What I ended up doing was ordering new upper and lower bushings as well as the guide pin sleeve and wave springs. So everything will be new. Hopefully just the bushings fix it. But yeah I need to do the mounts too.

Ok I replaced the upper and lower bushings, wave springs, and pin guide, boot and of course the bushing on the end of the ball. I still don't have 5th gear and the shifter is still slopping. The shifting feels a little more solid now, but when it's in gear there is about 1-2cm wiggle side to side. When I put it into first gear and hold it there, it feels very solid and there is no wiggle. But if I let go, it backs off about a centimeter and becomes sloppy although it is still definitely staying in gear. From what I've seen of the shifting diagrams there are no other bushings or linkages. The shifter just goes directly to the shift rods which have the forks connected at the ends. What do you guys think? Messed up shift fork?

5th gear synchro is a common problem with our trannys.

Your problem has nothing to do with your clutch fork. If your gears aren't staying in place, the synchros are worn or gone.

If you can't get into gear at all from neutral, that's a bearing issue.

I believe your problem is within the transmission extension housing. Could be a shift fork.

I'm told this can repaired with the transmission within the car, but I've never attempted it.
