see? to use the voltage regulator you have to splice wires, whereas to make your lights sleepy with epoxy in the motor is not only trashy, but destructive towards your fd. this is what you will be doing. far less real than a lseepy eye controlloer whuch can be removed and adjusted at will. did you read my post? i told you that you were a ricer and you could buy it from another ricer on ebay. i dont do stupid **** like this to cars. buying an actual kit like fumanchu is nice and doesnt require any splicing(nuub)but since youre an idiot and a n00b we dont have to worry about that

ps: give up now youve been PWNED
good one barban.. lol

Barban, I'm not saying your comments aren't entertaining, but you might quit trying so hard to "PWN" people and start thinking (or simply reading?) a bit more. The kit that fumanchu bought included Wael's modified headlight motors. Same kit was passed on to rzograbian, who owns the blue car pictured elsewhere in this thread.

Lopedl, you also, have you tried your 'fuse replacement' idea? Did it work? Or are you just passing along second-hand information, hoping that someone else will do the legwork for you? First off what you described would take much longer than 1 minute. Secondly, you've just removed a fuse from the system, so now you're introducing the possiblity of electrical fires if something goes wrong.

Steve-z, great writeup, thanks a ton. Now I just need to find some bi-xenon's for a decent price...

Does anyone know where the control module harness is for the headlights? On the pivot instructions it says remove your tach and speedo dash and it should be right there. I've tried to find it but have had no luck. Can someone please explain to me how to find it, and maybe take some pics.

Thanks,

Chris

I don't know what I like to ready more in these forums, the hot head remarks and bitch slapping or the good detailed write-ups. Anyway, Stock7 (if you're still reading this thread) do what you want and ignore the opinions. I have the "sleepy eye" setup with quality lights and I love it. I don't drive at night most of the time anyway and like the stock daytime look. If you do the conversion then I would go with the headlight motor mod in place of the Pivot unit. I can send you a pic of my setup if you like.

Here is my version of H.I.D. sleepy eyes that I did myself. I used these lense and housings from another automobile, but not telling which. hehe

Enjoy!

Arrow No Wiring Invovled!!

Oh, and the best way to do it is to use something to break the motor contact and make the lights stop sooner. I clened my contact with brake cleaner and then used a small cutout of tape. It has been working fine so far. If that doesn't hold up, I will prob. permanetly mod it will a dremel or something.

on another note...
I LOVE the shape of the standard rex, I mean LOVE it...
but...
everyone else has the same one, cos theyre all like that from the factory so...(flame suit tightly buttoned)
if i want to be different, have something individual that doesnt look like the other 5 in my town then i'll put a sleepy-eye kit, a c-west kit, a HUGE carbon 3d wing, it'll be low enough to give a mouse a nasty headache if he doesnt duck down and some relatively small (but VERY deep dished) wheels. know why? cos its mine.
And although i LOVE the standard rex, I also LOVE jap-style track/drift style rex' so if i want to imitate that then theres a good chance i will.

At the end of the day, we're all standing out from the crowd by buying a little-known japanese sports car, one of the greatest, but why should we flame others for modding to personal taste and standing out from OUR crowd. we wouldnt expect to be flamed by the countrys ford owners by buying a rex would we?

Yes, did it for two years straight on my daily driver, never had an electrical problem, or malfunction of any of the electrical components because of it. I don't have my car right now, so I can't look at what fuses or relays where involved. I was exaggerating about the two minutes, its actually more like 5 minutes. You can also have a switch which functions to turn off your headlights while they are still positioned. The lazy way is to just remove the relay which operates them and just postion the lights by hand.

Any picture of what that setup looks like at night? Do you still have high beams?

I know that on Probes when they do that, they have to run their high's all the time. The sleepy thing looks pretty cool at night. I'll give it that.

Thanks for the clarification. This method will leave the headlights up all the time, correct? They won't ever go down, you'll just have to manually turn the bulbs on and off with an additional switch? And I still highly recommend against bypassing fuses, they are there for a reason. Fuses are cheap to replace, and they don't burn things when they fail. One last thing, was this daily driver a 3rd Gen RX-7, or some other car?

The way that I did my sleepy eyes, makes it function as normal. The lights open and retract the same way, just not as high. it really is easy to do. I could do the motor mod again in about half an hour.

1234,

Isn't that the same thing that Wael did? However, I thought his would still extend all the way up before closing. Are you saying that yours only goes up to the lower height then straight down?

Does anyone know where the Harness is with the headlight control wires. In the pivot instructions said that I should find that and connect some of the wires to it.

thanks,

Chris

I did. Just because I didn't comment on them doesn't mean I ignored them.
