Silly question,, heater blower air controls

My car has a stupid fault that i would like to fix.The button for the the air controls (the one that shows air comming from the outside or recirculating inside,, the push button), when i press this button with the engine off i can hear the little motor under the dash moving but sounds like it gets jammed then resets back to start position then starts again. ( i.e its moving backwards and forwards).. can i get axcess to the flap controls or motor without removing the dash ?? (ive had the dash out before,, didnt want to go back down that road),, anybody?

Sounds like the flaper gets jammed before it seats, kind of like a garage door motor sensing something stopping it from closing and reverts to open. Maybe something from having dash out before isnt aligned properly.

Thats exactly what im thinking,, i just pulled up the exploded parts diagrams,,,looks like i can get to the motor from under the dash,, maybe if i can remove the motor and play about with the air flaps i can fix. Just wanted to know if anyone has done anything on this area and can shed some light?
