Compared to the stock setup, it's alot louder. You can hear the air getting sucked in and then there's the air pump Moo. Some people don't like the moo, but it really doesn't bother me.

I too am running APEXI, but with different piping. Definately not stock.

I have ASP large SMIC with Apexi intakes. I have pics of some people SMIC and apexi, mines in the shop right this moment to show pics of my engine bay. It will have to be custom pipes along with other things emlinated when you decide to use a large SMIC. So you can use it with pretty much any SMIC.

damn fool i think is what u ment. the reason most people buy an rx7 is for the amazing handling for the 50/50 weight distribution and of course the rotary engine. why ruin a fantastic car by throwing a big domestic heap of scrap metal at it. imagine turning the key and hearing a big rummbling v8 instead of the sexy whine of a rotary. not to mention it would shake all the parts off.lol if u want a v8 buy a mustang or a camaro. thats my $.02

Let's NOT turn this into a V8-conversion debate thread. There are already dozens of them and if this thread goes that route, it WILL be closed.

Air filter? Come on now, the American's found a way to keep an engine running w/o filtering the air doncha know? Who cares if you suck in a rock the size of a Jack Russel Terrier... Chuck Norris designed the engine to eat small birds and spit out Thanksgiving dinner.

Apexi intakes fit fine with a Greddy SMIC and there's no appreciable difference in sound either.
