It started as replacing the pillowball bushings and now.....

It sure made it easy to replace the fuel filter....
In the next few weeks, I should be finished cleaning, repainting the subframe & diff and putting it back together.

[QUOTE=bajaman]Okay, so my car has been non-running for something like....one year three months 23 days 9 hours....or so.
EVERY ******* day I walk by it sitting in the garage....up on jack stands....the engine sitting out on the work bench, forlorn. There have been so many times I had the bucks to send it off and get it rebuilt, only to have the funds vanish for one reason or another.
Now....one part of me says, "Chill out....the main thing is you have the car, there really is no hurry to get it running...be cool.", while the other side is like, "DAMMIT! I am TIRED of not being able to drive you!!!"
I try to rationalize things like, "Well...look at it this way: I'm not putting miles on it...." or "just THINK of the number of tickets I have probably avoided...." and so on so forth.
Couple all this with the fact that I am basically an impatient person. This....is teaching me humility and patience and a host of other things I don't normally deal with real well.
I am reminded by two of my friends that say I have experienced nothing yet, one guy had a '69 'Vette that he did a complete frame-off restoration, it was out of commission for over 4 years, another friend had a '64 XKE that cracked a head in 1972 and he didn't get it fixed until 2000. EIGHTEEN YEARS! I guess my lot isn't so rough compared to that....sigh.[QUOTE=bajaman]
I'm no mathmatician but '72-'00 is 28 years, and thats a little rediculious for a head. Anyway, mine is non-running, I unplugged the ecu.......

Been done for a whole three weeks. Most likely will be down 2-3 more. Small potatoes in this thread.

I'm pretty sure I have the all-time record: May 15th, 1998.

That's 2,542 days, 7 hours, 51 minutes and 2 seconds... 3 seconds... 4 seconds...

Yeah, and you do wild and crazy and VERY expensive stuff to yours (like painting the car with CHROMALLUSION paint!) while you are tinkering!
**** man....I'd kill for the bucks you've spent on that thing!

RX-7 s are a CULT vehicle , not to practicle but a lot of conversation and fun , probably more FDs not running than FBs, turbo cars dont like sustained high speed on interstates for long periodes, I mean hi-speeds. like 15 lbs for 1/2 hr. OH yes I do own one, yes I do call it some fancy names .

I could get it running if i finished the battery relocation. But that won't happen now that I'm going to do a 20b swap. I am aiming for having it road worthy by next summer.

That's pretty good considering my Roadrunner took 8 years, still needs rims/tires the headliner installed and the tail lights rewired.

at least everyone has gotten to drive there car. i bought mine in may of last year. got it home and started tearing it apart to paint it. and since i don't have heat in the garage, the dust got kinda deep on it. i heard it run before i bought it tho. but not for long since it had a hole in the radiator.
