should i be worried
the oil pressure guage that comes stock with the 7 is know to be very inacurate,
the oil pump in the car is very robust don't worry about it. but if you want to be sure just get a aftermarket guage (well worth the money)

are you reading from your stock oil pressure gauge? cause thats known to be faulty..my gauge reads sometimes and sometimes its dead..
basically if your oil pressure is reading 0 and you're car is on, you already know thats not true cause its impossible lol

It's not the gauge that goes bad, it is the sending unit. It's located above the spark plugs, towards the rear of the motor. Bell-shaped sucker. Call Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda, 888 533 3400 to order a new one

It seems to be guzzling a lot of oil. I've only had it a month and changed oil 4 times. Previous owner had it in storage for 4 years. The other thing is when the oil pressure reads 0 the engine starts to knock or make a hitting sound. Then when i start drivng it goes up to 30psi and stops making noise. This kinda started happining after i change spark plugs, I had to move some wires a little to get to the pluggs. I check oil and its always between the 2 marks on the dip stcik. I'm thinking about switching to 10w40 or 20w50, cause its really hot in CA. Owners manual says only 10w30 or 5w30. What do you guys use? I deliver pizza in fd so I often am driving or idling 4hours a day 5 days a week just at work, not to mention drivng to school and everywhere else.

With gas prices, possibility of overheating and a plethora of other variables, I can tell you that what you are doing is akin to playing russian roulette.

I am having the same problem but i do not drive the car nearly as much. The only thing is after leaving the car in the garage over night theres about 1-3 drips of oil. I can smell oil burning if im pushing the car, the othe night after doing a few launches i could see a little bit of white smoke coming from the engine and the smell of burnt oil. Everymorning i check the oil and its exactly inbetween the two markings. Should i not be driving the car? I plan on taking it into the local rotary mechanic but i probably wont be able to untill the end of the week.
