Should I be loosing press out the dip stick???

I just recently did the vac hose job and some other stuff on my car and before putting it all together I did a boost press leak check. I pluged up the primary turbo inlet with a can in the coupling and hooked a home made pressure tester to the secondary turbo inlet. This tester is basicly some pvc pipes with a rubber coupling on one end and a pvc cap with a tire valve stem on the other. When the system was pressurized a leak could be heard coming from the drivers side around the intake elbow area. What I found was that air was escapeing from the dip stick if it was held in then no leaks could be heard. Is this normal? if so what keeps boost from escapeing therough there all the time?

The PVC system is vented into the intake and it sounds like it is allowing press into the engine - I think there should be some check valves to prevent that - one may be bad or installed wrong ?
